So I was riding this morning for less than 3 miles and it started popping from the exhaust and and loosing power and than ran normal again for about 1/4 of a mile and started back popping again and quickly lost power and then cut out as if I hit the kill switch. Then engine was still spinning but it was like it just stopped sparking. I thought I somehow got water in the gas so I drained the carb and tank and out new gas in. Same result. I took the spark plug out with it still in the cap and tried to start it and look for spark by touching the electrode to the engine case. Nothing. Not even the slightest spark.
So far ive changed the cdi and the ignition coil and tried to start it with the kill switch wire unplugged.
It was running fine yesterday and this morning it took a little throttle to get it started and ran good the first mile, then it quickly died
Last Thursday the exhaust broke off the scooter for the third time in a month leaving just the pipe. I got tired for finding replacements so I just left it there. I up-jetted to compensate so I didn't burn a valve. Ive been riding like this successfully. Still lean on the pilet jet but where I live requires wot
% of the time.
2days ago my scooter was making a similar popping sound and surging so I suspected a problem with the timing advancing cdi I had. Long story short I put stock back on and the problem was instantly solved.
