If you didn't back up your drive, and you REALLY need the data, there's at least one company that can retrieve data from almost any hard drive. David Pogue did an article where they were working on a drive that had been run over and was in pieces. Employee said they'd probably retrieve about 60% of the data.
Meanwhile, go to MicroCenter and see if they still have the refurb bluetooth keyboards. Glorious loverly things well worth the (I think) $15. Let's you type like a normal human instead of one-fingering like someone fighting a smooth glass imitation keyboard-appearing visual.....
