I changed my transmission oil at 3k miles for my EVO150. What I hadn't anticipated, was that I wasn't going to ride the scooter very often. In other words, the oil was pretty bad.
If I would have ridden it daily, I probably would have changed it after 3-6 months. Now the oil was in there for 1 year, and was smelling bad, and looking brown black.
I recommend everyone to at least change transmission oil once a year.

Yeah, my Tomos Twister 50 takes a whopping 3.3 ounces of gear oil. thats about 100 ml, correct? that is what my atm50 takes also. i changed mine twice. once when i bought it with 8,000 km on the odometer and again at about 13,000 km. i've read many different specs for changing the gear oil. seems like as long as their is some in there then you are good to go for many miles.

Yeah, Actual amount was 105 ml. I change my gear oil every 3000km....probably overkill, but its only pennies per change. *LOL*

My dealer recommends every 1500 miles, of course they are hoping you'll pay them to do it. I passed 1000 a couple of weeks ago and went ahead and did it. Takes 10 minutes and a very small amount of oil, so I see no reason not to do it every 1000 miles or so. My father still has an old 82 Honda Civic that he has religiously changed the oil every three months, and it still runs like new. I think I'm saving money with my scooter, but my dad saved enough by driving that old Civic for so many years to pay for his 5th wheel!
