1. You might have as hose going to a little Plastic Box in front of the AIR BOX coming from a Canister and a hose from the Canister connected to the Valve Cover Vent PCV valve. Or the hose straight from the Valve Cover Vent PCV valve to the Little Plastic Box. That little box traps Oil that may get squirted out of the Valve Covers PCV valve. They usually have a foam Filter and you need to clean it so that it can breath and not get clogged with oil. Or you may have a Oil Canister but these are rare not to many scoots have them. 2. Then you might have an EGR system( exhaust gas recirculation ) this system has a VACUUM line to open the Valve to allow the unburned gases to exit and normally the hose will be connected to the INTAKE TUBE between the AIR BOX and the CARB. 3. Then you might have a EVAP System ( Evaporative Emission Control ) this traps fumes from the gas tank and also acts as a vent for the gas tank. A hose from the Gas tank goes to a CHARCOAL canister and is operated by Vacuum. A hose from the Canister will go to the AIR BOX or to the Tubing between the AIR BOX or the Carb. 4. The you may have a PAIR ( Pulsed Air Injection Reburn ) this sucks fresh air into the Exhaust port. It will usually go to a Canister operated by a Vacuum hose and one hose is just hanging to suck in fresh air. Alleyoop

What would be the advantages of removing egr and pair if I am keeping stock exhaust for now ?? In short, it boils do to reliability. You will get absolutely zero performance gains. The reason people remove the emissions crap is because it's stuff that can break down and leave you stranded. Your scooter doesn't need it to operate, it's only to satisfy the EPA and DOT requirements. Removing it gives you a more reliable scooter. Same thing with the vacuum operated petcock. People replace it with a manual to eliminate the possibility of being stranded.

I agree with dmartin95. While removing the emissions crap will not improve performance enough to be noticeable, it does remove a lot of troubleshooting steps when you do have problems. Most people remove them when doing other performance upgrades. The stock emissions crap is designed and tuned for a stock engine. So adding a BBK, or switching to a uni air filter and large diameter exhaust header and up-jetting, or any other engine modifications will not be in tune with the stock emissions crap. If it's not in tune, then it's not truly able to perform its function, which makes it pointless.

You remove the curved pipe on the valve cover, and fabricate a cover for the hole it attached to on the lower left side of the head.
