I have rear view mirror speakers with the amp built into the speakers. They have a power and a ground line, very simple. When I originally installed them, I ran the wires directly to the battery. I thought this would work OK because the speakers only work with the controller key fob attached to them via mini-usb. Apparently, the amp is still sucking juice even without the fob attached, enough to kill my battery.
So, I just bought a new battery at Scrappy's and a charger at PepBoy's, charging it up as I type this. I don't want to kill this new battery, so I have re-wired the speakers to draw from the right hand brake's power line. Seems to be working fine, speakers shut off when key is turned off, and both the speakers and the brake light work fine when everything is running. I chose the right brake's power line because it's in the same place as the speaker wires, and because it has an easy to use connector I can leach off without splicing. I still have the ground line running all the way back to the battery.
Any issues leaching power from this right brake electric power line? Any suggestions on a better spot in the wiring for the speakers power?

Thanks John! The key iginition switch, or the starter switch?
I wish the Chinese used the same wire coloring scheme as we do!

The 50s do not put out as much power as a larger scooter with more poles in the stator . I hope you have a trickle charger around 1/2 amp instead of a charger for a car battery that has waaaaaaaay more amps than a scooter battery does

I have a Black&Decker charger, which worked fine charging the new battery I bought two days ago. I put in the electrolyte, hooked up the charger, and less than 3 hours later it was good to go. I'm also attempting to recover the old battery, took 12 hours to charge, now I'll let it sit for three days and put it back on the charger, see if it will hold a charge or not.
