Thanks guys. I will do a valve adjustment check just to prevent any future problems from happening Nothing wrong with checking the valves.. EVER. Besides checking hoses and the carb, it's one of the first things I check if my scooter isn't running properly. That's after the brain farts of checking the kill switch.. or checking the coil to make sure it's on the spark plug. Lol.

If you check the valves when needed according to the engine maintenance schedule then you will not have any symptoms that they need checking and you greatly eliminate the chance that you had any of the engine damage associated with valves out or adjustment.
By the time you experience stalling of ridability issues the valves will already have been to tight or loose for some time and already been stressed.
When valves become too loose you get excess blow by resulting in acid buildup/damage in the crankcase and damaged seals along with the mushrooming of the valve stems and extra wear to the rocker arms.
When they are too tight then they don't stay closed long enough to cool properly and the valves become heat stressed so that they are more prone to fail either cracking/splitting or coming apart putting a hole in the top of your piston, scoring your cylinder and ruining the head.

Thanks. After I removed the valve cover, the rubber black gasket needs to be replaced every time I take the valve cover off or oil will start leaking, correct? I've had oil start leaking from the engine because the valve gasket from the cover was squished

Okay guys! I just did my first valve adjustment. Before I adjusted my valves, I used feeler gauges and I found out that both my Intake and outtake valves were too tight.
I set the intake to 0.004 inches and the outtake to 0.005 inches. I put the new gasket on, tighten the bolts, and then took it out for a ride. I noticed that the scooter was much more responsive and smoother with accelerating.
Is this normal?
It sounds a little louder than before. I tightened the 9mm nuts with a 9mm socket wrench then checked the gap. It seemed ok. I did not tighten the nuts down hard though, should I take the valve cover off again and tighten them some more? I read that you should tighten the adjuster nuts very tight To prevent them from coming off

I'm actually against frequent valve adjustments or checkups, for 2 reasons: 1- The more you open and close those riding chinese scrap heaps, the more chance you got when something goes wrong (broken bolt, thread wear, ....) 2- The more valve checkups you do, the more chance you got for doing one wrong 3- and lastly, aside from wearing parts, take in consideration, losing parts (like bolts screws). Not the first time some screw got lost with me...
Meaning, you could 'increase' the valve gap after the adjustment, because the wheel wasn't perfectly aligned, and you overlooked it, or other problem.

I totally agree. I think you should only do a valve adjustment when you really need one. You don't want to mess with your engine frequently
