While the "owners manual" the dealer gave me with my "new" used Kymco 250 is slightly better than the usual Chinese book, it lacks most of the information needed for much normal maintenance... I found a factory service-manual on eBay (used, but nice and clean) and got it today. WOW! This is info you REALLY need (and I hope I don't...) for serious wrenching.
I can highly recommend the service manual for anyone, even if not planning to rebuild the engine, etc. It is MOST handy because it shows EXACTLY how to remove all the plastics, dismantling clutch, variator, engine, etc. AND gives "go/no-go" spec's for parts, contains helpful diagnostics for problems, etc. On older used scoots like my '07 service manuals may be hard to find (I did a LOT of searching...) but it's worth the effort to have PROPER procedures outlined for general maintenance, as well as major repairs if you're up to doing them.
Having one of these guides might save a lot of questions requiring answers from site members. You know, like, "My Cucamunga 297 makes a grunting noise when the brake-lights are on during re-fueling... WHAT should I check?" Oh, yeah... LOL! We've ALL been there at one time or another. Look in the service manual, and, if it's worth fixing, it will show you what to do! AMAZING!
This manual is for the "Grand Dink" 250cc, which is thought to be the same scooter as the "Grand Vista". Apparently it is, mechanically but there is one big difference. The "Dink" has the passenger-seat much higher, with a corresponding "butt-in-the-air" styling of the side-plastics. It reminds me of the old "king & queen" seats popular on sixties' choppers. I didn't much like them on Harley's, and even LESS on a scooter. That must give the passenger a clear view over the driver's head... However, to my eye, it looks W-E-I-R-D... I'm glad for the American market, Kymco retained the standard Chinese 150 style seat and plastics.
Especially for those like me, who are not familiar with the water-cooled 250's, getting a service manual might save a LOT of time down the road, should minor "tweaking" require removal of parts you just do NOT know how to remove!
Ride safe, ride "informed"...

Heck, even *I* own a service manual for my scoot. Not that it makes a lick of sense to me. But I'm sure the bike shop appreciated having it along for any questions they might've come across.

Aprilia keeps most available for download for a $7 fee. Well worth it just for the searchable text in the document which makes finding obscure stuff not covered in the index pretty easy.
Good find for you Grand Duchey.
The tierd seat can help prevent a billed neck. A fiend came into work one day all stiff and sore not able to hold his head straight. His short wife got a new helmet with a sun visor/bill on it and every time he rolled off the throttle or hit the brakes she would nod forward and get him in the back of the neck with the bill. That poor guy was suffering.

However, while the "Vista" looks like a Chinese 150, the rear end of the "Dink" REALLY reminds me of the giant bugs in "Starship Troopers" posturing to shoot nuclear fire out of their butts... Yup... Thermonuclear beetle-butts... LOL!Leo (sorta glad it looks more Chinese than Bug-City under siege...) in Texas
