I got some of the plastics but they are pretty much shot. I also ran a VIN check today and it came up with an insurance type of alert and an odometer discrepancy. I bought the bike from the son of the man who repo'd the scooter. GetNewTitle.com wants to charge me $1,195 to try and get a title.

You have bitten off a pretty big bite with this one. What kind of plans do you have in mind for this project? You're a much braver person than I am...this one is a little out of my league. And, ouch, on that title fee...

First off, I plan to get the engine running. I need to go through the carb and replace some hoses and wiring. I have this crazy idea of trying to install the Reflex engine into my Helix. What do you think of that?

Thanks for putting up the pics - it helps me get an idea of where stuff is on mine! I have not been into the engine area yet.
I'm pretty sure the Reflex clones use a cloned Helix engine, so there is a chance it might bolt right in with minor re-engineering.
I'd like the high beam assembly (it looks like it might still be there) if you don't try to put this one back on the road. It looks like you are going to need a LOT of parts... even if you do go naked/street fighter style with it.

There is an idea in my head where I cut and bend diamond plate steel/aluminum, then bolt these panels directly to the frame tubes. Or, if I had mega bucks - carbon fiber.

Try your state DMV to find out how to get a lost title yourself through them and not some high dollar agent. (or find a cheaper agent if you must) Pretty sure you'll need the paper work (bill of sale/receipt) from when you bought the bike. >It should be dated, signed by both parties, the amount it was sold for, sellers name, address & phone # mileage on the odometer whether it is accurate or not and the VIN< Mostly they want that for taxes. Get the VIN from the frame NOT the number that you might find on a sticker on the plastic up in the left foot well. That plastic piece may have been replaced at some time and would not have the correct VIN. Seems like the DMV could do the check to see if it was a stolen bike. You might also need to show them the info you got from your VIN check. The VIN is on the frame on the lower right side of the bike just rearward of the radiator. If it turns out to be too expensive to do, you could always part it out or keep the engine and all that goes with that and try selling just the frame (notifying potential buyers of its no-title status) You might find a buyer. Once upon a time I was looking for a Reflex frame so I could use some of it for stretching another of my scoots. That project is not going to happen now because I'm doing something else. It helps if You got a key that goes with it. I would at least check fluid levels before attempting to start it. BTW, even the big Ruckus has cooling air channeled to the radiator via some bodywork/ducting since it is up and away from the general flow of air. Without air directed to the radiator it WILL likely overheat and the fan may not be enough to keep up. Mike B. I'm sure you could build some ducting or move the radiator. it is a naked bike at this point... Can you say Street Fighter Maxi Scooter! LOL
If I dragged that home, my wife would say..... It's ok as long as you build something cool out of it.... (Yup, I have a garden tractor with no deck, but dang it, it's gotta stack!) I call it my redneck ATV

I just read scdmvonline.com. I hope to find the insurance company who last titled the frame. If the title was branded "salvage-rebuildable" I may then rebuild the bike and title it in my name as "salvage-built." I also read that if I buy a frame out of the state, the bike must be rebuilt in that state, be branded as "salvage-rebuilt", then transferred to my state as "salvage-rebuilt."
