I am considering adding a windscreen to my Tomos Twister 50, but have the following questions. 1. Am I likely to lose speed (top end) or is it more streamlined than my body (frontal area of chest etc).? 2. Which is the preferred material? Acrylic or Polycarbonate? 3. Any recommendations on brand names, models and sources? 4. Any and all comments are welcomed. Thinks  |

Absolutely!! I'll never be without one. No MPH loss at all and much more comfy riding...not to mention the number of deflected items that have hit it and not me..check scrappydog, they are cheap!

I'm shopping for a windshield now as well. I've been to ScrappyDogScooter's store, and the universal windshield they carry seemed at first glance a bit less sturdy than what I would want, but can't beat the price at $35! Seems as if you're happy with Scrappy's redroush00, any downside to consider before purchasing it? I'm thinking of something a bit more substantial, but will end up paying twice as much if I go that route.

Thinks A windscreen is a great addition on your bike.I does not interfere with your steering or speed but it seems to turn the wind stream up and over your head. You might call the manufacturer of your bike for information regarding if they stock that item or take the width measurement of your handlebars and go on ebay and see what they have .The material is plastic like so it can be cut .I am or go on Google click in scooter windshields. Or I am sure there will be someone on the forum that has some info on wind screens |

Mine is about 2 or 3 mm thick a nd is bolted to the front frame. Others are connected to the handlebars by two rods both types seem pretty good. |

Yes they are practical. I had one on my 50cc Motebecane Mobyette and it made the bike much more comfortable. Just don't go overboard and choose a barn door. With one of the more aerodynamic models you can get rewarded with both a higher top speed and better fuel economy.

I have been looking at the Slipstreamer brand, twice as expensive as the universal one ScrapyDog's carries, but also in various sizes. I was thinking either model 30 or 40 would be good for a small scooter: slipstreamer scooter windshieldFrom what I've viewed on one YouTube instructional video, you want the windshield come up to just below your eyes. What do you think, higher to force all wind above your head, lower to prevent too much drag? And how about venting, I've seen discussion in my searches that mentioned a "V" shaped vent in the lower portion of the windshield can help with airflow, anyone here have a vented windshield on the scooter or motorcycle? |

I was looking at Scrappy's windshield when ordering parts. The price is great and might help me sell this bike quicker. Just not sure if it will fit over, behind or in front of the instrument cluster. Or fit at all... The mirrors are 16" apart....hmmm.  |

I installed mine by pointing the mounting brackets inward towards each other. They dont have to be mounted the way you see them pictured in the adds.
Oh and whichever one you do get I suggest painting the bracket and the posts. They pit real quick if not protected. They are not considered eye candy by the general masses and i doubt adding one just to sell it will help you.

I had one on my bike and I didn't care for it. I ride a Verano 150, and I couldn't get it to stay in position and the wind hit my helmet making it rumble. I've riden other bikes and I've liked them but on that particular bike, it just don't seem to work for me.

The wndshield I have on mine came with my scoot and it is tinted and about the width of the area of the handle bar less the padded handles and is kind of curved near the top so the wind hits the shield and is direct up and over my head, These seem pretty expensive to me .I figured about 35 -40 dollars I could be wrong though. Doesn't the dealer of your scoot carry any windshields? If yo take some rough measurements to give to who ever you decide to buy from they should be able to give you information on which kind is best. Mine is only about 18 -23 inches above the handle bars and it woks good for me. Thos price seem high though. They are only a piece of plastic and a few screws and such . |

It doesn't matter which material. Regular PVC is good enough for speeds up to 45MPH. Not a lot of speed difference with or without screen prodigit is right , PCV is good enough ,it doesn't hurt the speed all that much and sure keeps the cold wind off you face and body. |
