I know this is an old thread but I had the same problem with a 2013 150cc Jon-way scooter with 300 miles on it. Did everything that was stated here and on other sites finally took it to the dealer, turns out there is a sensor on the camshaft that can go bad, dealer is fixing at no charge. Dealer also stated that the cheaper Chinese version still use the sensor but that the Taiwanese versions do not use this sensor due to the problems with it. If it has a sensor it is a rev limiter and some 50cc scoots have them you will see wires going down into the CVT near the Variator to read the rotation of the crank. Bring your camera and ask the dealer to show you the Sensor and take a picture of it. We would all like to see this rev-limiter on a 150cc motor because to this day I have yet to know of a 150cc with a rev-limiter, on a 50cc scoot yes but not on a 150cc+ china motor. Alleyoop

I picked the scooter up today dealer said it was a compression release on the camshaft, he replaced the cam with one that didn't have it and my scooter is now running fine. So I was wrong was not a sensor but a part of the cam.

WOW!! We also would like to see this Compression release on a CAM, man your mechanic sure can come up with some crazy things. Ask for the Old cam and ask him where the cam compression release is WE ALL I am sure would like to this this cam compression release thing. To tell you the honest truth bud, I would not go to that mechanic again and open my wallet to him. He really is taking you for a ride sorry to say, but if your happy what can one say. Yea didn't think to get the old cam from him, he stated he has had 3 other scooters with the same problem but they all had around 1000 to 3000 miles said it was the first he has seen with as low miles as mine had. But I am also confused because I could find nothing on line about a compression release on a cam, and he said it would only take about 45 min to replace the cam which is what he stated he did, I prob. would have made sure I got the old part if he was charging me, but since he did not I didn't think of getting or asking to see the old part.

It is sad to hear stories like this, it is hard to find honest shops that will not rip off people coming in that do not know anything about how things work on a car or any vehicle really not just scoots. They take advantage of that just to fill their pockets. Where any shop makes their money is in the back room, selling whatever product is not enough to keep them in business so the unknowing pay for unnecessary work, parts and more time on the labor side than it really took to fix. Hey now lets not be to tough on this mechanic, he seems to be pretty good, 45 minutes is pretty darn fast for a camshaft swap!
