Man I feel like the scooter gods are out to get me; the wheelie accident a few weeks ago and now this. I had just finished installling the naraku hs variator and took it out for a speed test. Afterwards, while coasting up to an intersection I squeeze both brakes and the front lever is completely limp! Luckily the rear drum did the job the rest of the way home. Guess it's my fault for not catching it on my PDI. Scoot has 1400km on the clock. It lost one brake pin and one pad. I actually walked up and down that street hoping I could find them.....FAIL! I ended modifying a set of motorcycle pads from Advanced auto to fit and replaced the missing threaded pin with one I could use a cotter pin on.

worth mentioning, while I was scouring the interweb trying to locate a replacement pin, I came across several warning about tightening the tao tao brake pins. Most of them were on atv forums but same exact issue. No luck locating a oem replacement, but I think my redesign is better anyways. Seriously doublt the cotter pin will ever just fall out. Probably gonna get one more and do them both that way.

. Guess it's my fault for not catching it on my PDI. NOT just the PDI. i check IMPORTANT bolts and nuts all the time. not every ride, i'd never get to ride, but once a week or 2, is always a good idea.
at least you didnt get hurt or wreck the scoot.

I think there is a conspiracy out there against Chinese scooter brakes... LOL! My rear master-cylinder went out a week ago. Fortunately, in the driveway... Got a new one coming. Digging through all that brittle plastic trim, and trying not to break it is enough to make a guy think about stripping the scoot to the bare frame, and making a "nekked-Ruckus" style ride. But then, I'd keep seeing Wangchicken's "Project Sunkist" and decide to leave the custom stuff to the guys who know what they're doing... LOL!Now, if I can ONLY remember how it all goes back together... Ride safe...Leo in Texas

We should set up regional scooter workshops where we can I get together and help out riders all over.

TaoTao has a website which has parts for sale. They're on average a bit more expensive than aftermarket parts, but you're sure they're stock and fitting.
