My point is how do you know how safe a car that hasn't been made yet is. Chinese cars have air bags and they are death traps. The Pinto had seatbelts and was a death trap. Only time will tell how safe it is, assuming they even make it.
BTW he was definitely talking about it being safer in the rain. At least the sentence he wrote indicates that. Perhaps you called him for clarification and know better

I'm following this one closely. I hope they are able to pull it. They have an old GM plant they plan to use but no production equipment yet. Only one or more prototypes. I like the concept.

Yeah, they start production lines about now, with the first batch being released Q3 of '14. The first public batch will be Q3 of '15, since they currently have a waiting list of almost 2000 orders, and more to come!
I hope to still get the $500 initial discount, but first need to get my CC in order, as I also need to pay a grand on taxes, and just paid car insurance, have planned a short vacation and the holidays are coming. This is the time of the year where I usually have the most expenses.

my my i didn't realize my statement would cause so much reply. i agree that rain isnt a problem with proper gear and tires on a motorcycle though i personally still hate it cause seems like no one can see me. i apologize that i was unclear but i was just talking about it being safer in general after reading about it. i do agree that we will have to wait and see how it fairs in real life but since it isnt in production yet all we can do is compare specs,
pro what tires do you have on your car? the only tires i have had that have lasted less than 30k were mud terrains on my truck. my last set of a/t tires lasted me 75k and they were rated for 50. just seems really weird i had put michelins on my girls camry and now she has goodyears but the michelins lasted well over 80k and that is with rotations and balances at 10 or 12k miles depending on her lack of memory on maintanence

Chevrolet Eco stock tires are low rolling resistance radial tires, maybe they might be of the softer type, since the tire is low profile, and the rim is pretty big.
I have 18k miles on my car, but probably still a good 3-6k miles on my tires before I should worry about replacing them (front), rear tires, like usual, are ok.
Another good point you make, is that the vehicle is very low and small, and may not be seen by other cars. For that reason, it's imperative to choose visible colors. I wanted to choose white or grey, but that would be invisible in a rainstorm on the highway! I probably would want to go for orange.

It looks neat but I would for sure take a test ride , see if you can get parts from 3rd parties instead of dealer only and see if it is listed in the auto safety crash test list . Would be sweet to ride in the rain and not get soaked or have to bundle up with extra gear

It's supposed to reach a 5star safety for the driver, no numbers on the passenger, as there's only airbag in front (I think they expect this vehicle to only need frontal airbags, and that's ok for me, seeing I will probably be the only one of the family riding it).
The crash tests haven't been done yet, but company CAD simulations look good so far. They're going to crash 7 of them in a crash test a few months from now.
I told them, before they crashtest them, let those cars be worn out as , ride in the Arizona desert for weeks on end, and tens of thousands of miles, before crashing the cars...
