If your engine is Knocking you can try to richen it up a little, Turn the Fuel Ratio Mixture Counter Clockwise and see if that eliminates the knock. If not it is to advanced and you will need to retard it a little.
So if a little more fuel does not eliminate the knock, Take the Valve cover off bring it up to Top Dead Center as if your going to adjust the valves and check where the CASE POINTER is pointing to on the FLYWHEEL. The pointer should be on the "T" or a little before the "T" if its to advanced it will be 1/2" or more from the "T".
If you do not have an adjustable CDI then the easiest way to retard the timing is to MOVE the CHAIN 1 TOOTH.
To RETARD move the chain 1 LINK BACK on the CAM SPROCKET. One Link Back is Toward the Carb.
To ADVANCE move the chain 1 LINK FORWARD on the CAM SPROCKET. One link Forward is Toward the EXAHUST PIPE. Re-Check your timing after this and see where the CASE POINTER is now pointing to on the Flywheel.
If you have an adjustable CDI, Turn the pot CLOCKWISE TO ADVANCE and COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO RETARD.
Turn it only a little at a time and try it out to much in either direction the motor will run poorly. Alleyoop
