I'll wait till they are out a few years. I don't make a good guinea pig. They didn't mention DOT or Snell or European certification which is strange, I would...
It is neat but how do you lock it to the bike??

It may meet DOT specifications, but will not be legal in California.
CVC 27803 ... (e) For the purposes of this section, “wear a safety helmet” or “wearing a safety helmet” means having a safety helmet meeting the requirements of Section 27802 on the person’s head that is fastened with the helmet straps....
No strap, not legal.

No strap, not legal. That could change with this type of design, though I must admit I have no idea how difficult it would be to make such a change in Cali.

Another issue is how would it be removed in case of an injury. Especially a neck injury. It might be better might be worse than a strap, depending on how you look at it

It would appear easier to remove in case of an emergency. Your standard full face helmet is actually very dangerous to remove in cases of neck injury, especially if it's a tight fit. This hinged design would seem to be much easier to remove without pulling on the victims head and neck as much. This of course assumes the latch and hinge mechanisms are robust enough to not fail during a crash.

I have a modular that opens from the front a bit easier than a standard full face but I guess I was comparing it to that. A modular helmet opens for ease of on and off. No manufacturers recommend you ride with them open.

seems easier to get off in accidents but I'm with scootinwin, I want to see how they fare in the market first. How long have they been around? I've never heard of them.

They are trying to re-invent the wheel. I'll stick with the tried and true conventional DOT approved helmet.(with chin straps)
