hehe, alrighty. First off hello everyone again. After my rebuild i have had a few ups and downs. Mainly i have taken the +3 stroker out for the meantime and running the stock crank. Now as to my new issue. Everything was running great. And I mean GREAT! Was in love with the ol girl all over again, racking up miles and just have a plain ol good time. Then it rained yesterday. and my Cold air intake snapped off and got wedged behind the rear tire. Lost two bolts for the exhaust system. One at the head the other at the muffler holding to frame. I fixed the frame bolt issue not the header issue yet. I fixed all that crap and she was still running at normal speeds with normal power. then later that day I was riding home (in the rain)and she has a power/speed issue. Before she would max out at 80 on the chinometer. Now she will not go above 50. Full throttle seems like only half. I didnt take her all the way home then. I waited till today when it wasn't raining and still have the lack of power/speed issue. Throttle cable is fine, no blockage there. Before i rip into her again. I would think it is either blockage in the carb, cdi acting odd or maybe a vacumn issue. I want to rule out vacumn sine she starts fine. I have no oil leaks. and other than the louder noise from the missing exhaust bolt not causing it to snug right no odd noises. Help please

You said the magic words "The louder noise" is the KEY my friend you header Flange is leaking due to the missing bolt that holds the flange to the motor. It is running LEAN AND MEAN, and if you do not fix that ASAP you will burn you exhaust valve which you may have done already. Alleyoop

[replyingto=carasdad]carasdad[/replyingto]Alrighty, fixed the header exhaust leak. gained maybe 5mph. Now that the exhaust leak is less i can now hear that the exhaust coming out of the after-market muffler (V8 style) does not have the throaty sound like it did before. My 171cc+ sounds more like a 50cc/stock 150cc.

It could be because it was running lean and hot it burned some of the packing and now it has a tinney sound to it. Alleyoop

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]Possible, i can buy that. But what of the power loss? Granted i havn't taken the carb apart yet, nor the enigine. (No time today or till 3-4 days from now.) but the only thing missing is the cold air intake. Currently i have the remainder of the radiator hose that is attached to the carb from where the intake sheared off. Roughly 3-4 inches worth. unfiltered(as was the air intake) would this be a factor? Before(Weeks and weeks ago, before i added the cold air intake) i just had a uni on with no extension. and no diff.

You have to have something you cannot run with the Air Intake off, that will cause you ALSO to run lean to much air and mean not enough fuel. But if you want a good muffler that sounds good and you can adjust for more or less free flow and it will out last your scoot get a suppertrapp muffler, You can also replace the inside very easy. Here is what it sounds like on my Trike which is a 182cc built motor: Alleyoop
