That is what I want him to do to prove it to himself that his system is NOT A DC SYSTEM which he says he has. If the motor will run without the battery it is a AC system the is CDI fed by the STATOR only when it is rotating. MAYBE he will listen to you because he sure doesn't listen to us. Well there are worse things than hard headed and again from reading all this I believe this is just a misunderstanding? Like was stated we call a scooter AC or DC by the process of how the engine fires, is the CDI Ac fed or DC fed? He has already stated that the engine will run without battery power and again the 11 pole stator is AC.
But from closely reading this I think his assertion is his "charging" system is DC? It is as in "yes and no" like all scooters are. Stator produces AC and is converted to DC by a half wave rectifier joined to a regulator. It's easy to confuse this.

I did the test and yeah I got nothing untill I started the motor and then it read about 40 volts still on the dc seting I didnt test ac but i think it would probably be the same and yeah everything else on my scooter is wired for dc and turns on when i turn the ignition on except the headlights which are 2 x 35w HID's each with their own independent switches
and so far so good I havent had any problems with the battery over or under charging

dude, the stator DOES NOT put out dc. very simple-IT DOES NOT PUT OUT DC! regardless of what you think your meter says, as you said, you did not even attempt to read ac voltage. do your self a favor, quite asking here and then completely ignoring good sound KNOWLEDGE. google how motorcycle/scooter stators work. when the answers you find correlate exactly with how you have been told here, come back and say thank you
