This is a good augmentation but check the lumens before substituting one for the other. I was looking at these types of bulbs recently and what I found is that they put out around 300 lumens, whereas my 45w incandescents (which still aren't bright enough for me) put out about 840 each. There's a recent thread here about someone who put these in and I asked him the question of whether he was supplementing the lights or replacing them. i did not see a reply at the time.

I want to try led headlights cause the power drain is low, but also want the option of a hi/lo beam. If they don't exist, I might as well just stick with my xenon bulb

I think this will not work as a substitution. Won't be bright enough. Ever thought of HIDs?
If you're just looking to save power draw there are lots of other lights you can replace with LEDs very easily.
I just bought 2 10w cree floodlights that I'm going to attach as augmenting light. I just did a test off the battery and they are really bright.

Just to let you know that LED bulbs like that usually don't project the beam. I have the H4 LED Bulbs and yea tried them out myself and very very bright but does not project the beam onto the road

Yup - for an LED to project its light for you to see with, it has to be focused with a special lense, that's why the good LED flashlights work so well.
They will at least make you easier to be seen by others than the stock 18w bulbs though, if you don't blind them as you go by, lol...
