Is it a good feature? Any pitfalls?

The alarm may run your battery down because it's always running while the scooter is idle.

I'm still trying to figure out the benefits to remote start on any two-wheeler. I mean, it's not like your car, warming it in the winter, cooling in the summer.

My scoot has it, and I have not found any real benefits of either the alarm (which NOBODY pays attention to) or the remote starter... AND it indeed DOES drain the battery while the scooter sits. In about a week on mine! I suppose the remote starter might be good if you've removed the kicker, and the cheesy push-button went bad.
With that in mind, I put a heavy-amp toggle-switch in the battery positive lead. When I put the scoot away at night, I throw the switch, and the battery is completely disconnected. I have not had a dead battery since! I also installed a cigarette-lighter port so I have 12V power for the teensy inflator I keep in the tools... AND I can charge the battery now by hooking the low-amp charger to a 112V lighter plug, and "plugging-in". Two VERY handy mods that are EASY and save a LOT of hassle in daily use.
As the old song says... "little things mean a lot"... LOL!

How would it drain the battery in a week if you ride it every day and say dont set the alarm? Even if you used it at the store for example sparingly, you're saying it still drains?
The idea of not having to put in the key to ride after using the remote seems odd. My cars all required it before driving.

My alarm only killed my battery when I forgot to turn it 'off' after I used the remote start. It is the only thing I miss about my China scoots, they both had them. I very much enjoyed being able to start the scooter up in the fall/winter from inside the house to let it warm up a bit while I put my shoes on. Of course, this only works if you have it tuned well enough to start with no throttle.

I got an alarm padlock for stupid-cheap last weekend at Westlake. I figure if I park somewhere hinky, I'll lock up my brake or something with it, while also using my bike cable and regular locks. Won't drain my scoot's battery, should go off if anyone gets too screwy with my bike, and hopefully will bring folks if so.
Still don't want a remote start of any kind on my bike. Period.

ok.... If your putting a alarm on and not plan on using t then it's a waist to even buy it. If you put it on and use it it will slowly drain the battery if you don't keep it on charge or use it everyday. If you're just using it for the remote start I see no issues.

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW THE DANG THINBG STILL DRAINS A BATTERY IF YOU DONT USE IT! It doesn't! ***if it's working properly*** I left mine armed for at least a week over the winter (I tried to ride it at least once a week) and it always started right up like normal. I'm sure it could go longer. I'm also sure that many people with complaints about them simply didn't turn it off with the remote after starting (or trying to start it) with the remote. Also accidentally hitting the 'start' button once will turn on the ignition but not crank it, giving you no indication that you did anything.

So would it still shut off if you unknowingly did that and used the key to start it if you hit the off button on the remote?
Also, whats this about the alarm and so forth stranding people and the scoot just randomly starting on its own?
