Ok , so I was putting in my rollers a few days ago and noticed that the front plate , the one with the teeth for the starter and kick starter use to crank the motor, when I took the nut off and everything and put the plate back on it kinda didn't fit flush with the boss , ie...it could wobble . Of course when I put the nut on it pressed it flush fine . My question it i am still getting a variable vibration from the motor . At differant rpms it will go waa waa waa waa then waaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaa then waaa waaa waa...waa waa waa wa wa wa and be silent till again it starts as the rpms continue to rise until max and jut waa waa waa waa....I have ruled out the tires and adding a gasket to the exhaust helped muffle or silence it but you can still feel it in your feet and on the center stand feel it at the transmission and motor . Variator looked good no dips in the ramps and the surface was smooth all the way to the top. As was the face plate . Any suggestions ? Belt maybe or front plate ? It has done this since befor the mods and although a new variator and rollers but didn't replace the front plate . Thanks

have you run it with cover off cvt to see if the belt is jumping up and down due to clutch not operating smooth cause the belt to floop at some rmps. or the clutch bearing could be going bad that will cause what you are describing. just a thought.

How can I ride with the cvt cover off ? I tried once to start it with the cover off and the starter bendix gear fell out . Quickly shut it down and inspected it not teeth hurt on the bendix or variator cover plate just scratches on the bendix housing .

no on center stand. take all bolts out and hold cover in place and someone start motor and carefully remove the cover and watch it on stand while giving it some gas. you can hole starter Bendix in place with screw driver on tip. i think u will find its the bearing in the clutch i change alot of them cause of roaring and vibration

Do you think the variator front plate is normal because it would not like sit flush on the boss ( you could wobble it against the boss ) although when I put the nut on it was fine and flushed up fine .

Like has anyone when replacing their rollers on a 50cc noticed if their front plate sits still and flush against the boss befor putting the nut on? I did notice that the face is smooth and the wear goes all the way to the top with out any variation in it .

the belt will hold it off alil til u put the bolt on unless you have the belt pushed way down in the rear clutch so it has room. it was on the splinds rt you know in the groves

[replyingto=david3336]david3336[/replyingto]Thank you , that's one thing off my list then . Going to see about a new belt later this week and check the clutch bearing while I'm at it . When I put the new variator on I did spin the clutch to look for play or slack and noise .....it rolled fine and no slack. I grabbed the clutch with both hands and tried to check for any side to side give ...like you do on a car tire to check for bad wheel bearings and ball joints and it felt great ...no give. It sounded like it normally has when I spun it ...usual gear noise from the final drive ...spinning the clutch pulley felt smooth ...ie no ruffness like dry bearings . Is there something else I should be looking for on thie clutch bearing being bad ?
