I pulled my cvt cover yesterday with the intention of trying the 1000 rpm contra spring that came with my naraku variator. When I got it off I realized that the fan was missing about half the blades. I hadn't noticed any change in ride quality, vibration, or anything like that. I checked my belt and drive face and everything looked fine. I put it back together and drove it home. Already ordered a new fan, but I would like to know what caused this so I can correct the problem before installing the new fan. The scoot has probably 3000 km on it and I do drive it hard. Mods are in my sig, the latest of which was an aluminum drive face about two weeks ago and the fan was fine then.

heat they just take a lot of heat and they not made of much. alot of times they get broke when a belt breaks. i just keep a eye on mine when i check belt they wear right at the center where the 3 plong clip is that holds drive face on it melts right through the fan then they wobble and some times hit the cover and break. also if the vent thing is missing from vent hole a small rock can some times get in the and break them

I did remove the kick start when I installed the DC fired cdi and that hole hasn't been covered because I bought the wrong size plug. Something could certainly have gotten in there. Guess I better get that plug before installing the new fan. It also gets plenty hot from me regularly pushing it to 50mph.

Now that I think about it, if something got in through the kick start hole, it would've landed right on the fan blades. D8
