Hello everyone! I've been learning from these forums for a while but didn't have a need until now to ask for help. I have a 150cc Qingqi Rhon with a Gy6 engine that sat for about a month and now won't make a sound when I press the electric start. I bought a new battery since the old had corroded. The new battery didn't make a difference. Kickstarting it doesn't work either. I heard about checking the battery fuse but don't know how to go about it without breaking anything. I wanted to see if any of you knew about things I could test or try before I went out and bought a bunch of parts I don't need. Any Help Is Appreciated!! Thanks

Forgot to mention that I also cleaned out the carb.

That is a good place to start. To check the fuse, it is connected to the positive terminal of the battery. It has a plastic case and is a tube like fuse. Open the case up and check.

I just wanted to add, sometimes the fuse is good, but the connection is bad. This can happen especially when a battery is changed. So, it could be as simple as making sure the fuse is on there tight so there is a good connection.
Good luck.

Remember that a new battery needs to be charged before you start a bike with it. Some may even be reverse polarity before charging them and may damage your bike if you just throw them in.

Meanwhile I'm lying here thinking my scooter sat for pretty much two years, plugged into a Battery Tender Jr. First attempt to start, just coughed. Second attempt, putt-putt-putt . So was I just dumb-lucky? Or is it something about the Piaggio engine instead of the GY6? >'Kat

try to bypass the carb,,, remove the spark plug and inject some amount of gas in it,, screw the plug back and crank it, if it starts then it means that the carb is not delivering any gas in the chamber(needs proper cleaning or tunning)...IF it does NOT start,it means that there is no spark or spark is not too strong to burn the gas./stator might be damaged/ CDI might be F*cked up. (replace), check wiring, grounding etc. do compression testing too. i don't think battery is the issue. good luck! remember this: chinese scooters are like lawn mowers, 80% of the reason why it doesn't start is gas delivery to the chamber( Carb problem) and the other 20% is just simply it being made in china. ugh!

Better rubber products and metals in the fuel system means less deterioration and white corrosion to plug things up. Plus you used a real Battery Tender Jr which did not overcook you battery and just maintained it with a light charging. It is when you use one of the cheap knock-off chargers or a car charger that you get into trouble.

Luke, considering how much electronics we've got hooked in, and that Mom has the tv going most of the day, I'd say a battery tender is the least of our worries on the bill. ;D
rocky, glad to learn. Although if I pooch my knee again I'll probably have Custom do a proper long-term storage prep on him, since I now know I likely won't be riding for a while. But I'm not planning on that again!
As for v3tty, if it IS the battery wouldn't the lights be weaker or something? And wouldn't the kickstarter work? I thought the whole point of the kickstart was in case the battery died.

SylvreKat I assume the lights would be dimmer but they seem to be working just fine with the new battery rockynv I did charge the new battery. I read really good reviews about the Automatic Battery Tender Jr. so I got that and I followed all the instructions for my new battery including charging it. brandjur I would really appreciate a little help checking the fuse because right now I'm not too sure I can do it without breaking anything. This is what the spark plug looks like for anyone wondering. Is there a way to post multiple photos or would I have to write a new reply for each one? Attachments:
