My tomos nitro 150 is a GREAT running scooter. There are a few things I need to fix but it runs like a top. The gas gauge on mine is broke, and the headlight low beams are failing me so I have to ride w high beams at night (X) but the engine is like a top. Mine is a Sym scoot so its a pretty good quality. I change my oil every 1000 miles and I'm doing the gear oil next time.

:)hope nobody from the DMV/RMV reads these threads And why is this? Because when one says they want to "skip out on all the paperwork" because they don't agree with it. The DMV is funny about their laws. There are plenty of laws I don't agree with but as a member of society I am obliged to follow. If your state says 49cc or less then after a BBK you need a MC license.

If i get a "49cc" or less no paperwork. There isn't anything illegal about that lol.

I personally think Craigslist is a good place to look for scooters.
When the RMV here in MA wouldn't give me a moped sticker because my 50cc scooter was supposedly a "limited use cycle" I looked on Craigslist for another scooter. Some nice scooters are being listed on there every so often.
Luckily, I tried another RMV and a person working there gave me a sticker. I have a Roketa model MC-07S-50. The Roketa models MC-07-50 and MC-07K-50 are on the list as "limited use cycles" so the first RMV I went to said mine was limited use, too.
Here in MA, the RMV lists some 50cc scooters in the motorcycle category. So your 50cc scooter will need all the same paper work that a large motorcycle would need.
Anyways, good luck finding your new scooter.

The ride is probably a little more harsh than those with bigger wheels. But I don't have any other experience with scooters.
But I take pot holes and bumps well.
Take off and top speed is decent and normal for a 150 scooter. I can keep up and even pass and out accelerate a lot of the traffic.
The Sym (which is what my Tomos is) is a great bike.
With 700 miles I bought mine for $1400
I have yet to wrench a single thing on my bike, keeps on runnin! There are a few things I'll be lookin to fix soon though (fuel gauge, headlight)

:)hope nobody from the DMV/RMV reads these threads And why is this? Because upping the cc's could possibly make it illegal to ride without insurance/endorsement on your DL/tags. Check with your DMV first before buying and esp before modding and see what MO laws are. And I second the advice to spend some of your money on a helmet/jacket/gloves. And take the MSF class--it'll teach you so much, even if you've driven two-wheelers for years. >'Kat
