I'd simply ride the scoot, until the bearings start giving up, and only then rebuild it; some people are for preventive maintenance, but I usually only repair broken things. It's a gamble, but more than likely you can save more money doing things this way, than replacing them preventively, as it may be that you can still go many more miles before the engine needs a rebuild. I agree. At 100k he has been doing something right. I don't twist a wrench just for sport. If you're a hobbiest then tear her down but it sounds like you're about riding so that's what I'd do. the link to the other board for the oil was a very interesting read and i feel like i learned something about oil today lol. So this brings up the question what is the best oil to use in a 4 stroke gy6 eninge?
im currently using mobile 1 15w40 for my break in and im planning on swapping to 5w30 racing full syn once my break in is done.
anyone got some suggestions on better oil to use? if you read the post he put up does anyone agree with using the 0w20 for all the benefits that was said?
me knowing nothing about oil would question that oil being to thin, but then again i know nothing about oil other than its used to lube up the engine lol

BTW, I like your scooter best on the scooter scroll. That's me in my Pink PowerRanger guise (and the one JR apparently liked best of the four I sent him). Mom (yes, the same woman who still calls the scoot "that thing" half the time and claims all her grey hairs are from me riding "that thing") got her camera and took several shots of me my first time around the neighbourhood. Wasn't even legal yet. >'Kat |
