Two weeks ago my wife and I took our '67 Ultra Van to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Car Show. At the end of the day, one of the Ferraris wouldn't start. The owner flagged down one of the Courtesy Carts, and the guy said, "I know who can help!" they came over to our Motor Home, and asked if we had a battery booster. Of course we do! He jumped the Ferrari, and the owner went happily on his way. The next day, at the same show, a 1967 Lincoln Continental was leaving, and ran out of gas. I went over with my jumper, and another guy brought his GIANT tool box, complete with fender covering mover's pads. The Courtesy Cart brought some gas, we pulled the fuel filter, cleaned it, and got him going again. (I put the jumper on the battery just to keep it topped up while he cranked- there's 20 feet of fuel line from the tank to the 3 PSI suction pump, facing uphill, so it took a while!) Of course, the guy with all the tools was the one driving an Edsel!
It's always nice to help out, even if they just need to borrow a phone. If they don't need or want help, it didn't hurt me to ask. I've had to walk 12 miles, in the Florida sun, because I ran out of gas and no one would stop to help.
