Just bought my first scooter.
2007 Hyosung SF50 Yellow Will upload pictures during daylight.
She had 60km on her when i bought it, and now has 68km, here is my first take.
It had no battery so i purchased one, charged it a bit and put it in. It didnt start or even pretend to with the button. But! After a dozen kicks it came to life and has started with the first good kick since.
I dont think the turn signals work.
It said it was near empty so i totally spilled gas because it was already full. maybe, 75c in 15c out. no movement of the needle.
So i'm thinking my trickle charger is broken, i will test battery in daylight.
She will die now and again, increasingly infrequently, when going from speed to stop. She starts right up with one kick and off you go again, feather it and it won't die.
Short residential blocks here, haven't gone past 25 or 30mph. I read someplace that it might be restricted at 45kmph?
Speed limit to work is 35mph and its usually slower. Maybe... 5 or 6 miles each way.
I know that 60km is nothing. and 2007 was 6 years ago. It appears to have been kept 100% in a garage in california. But i still have break in concerns.
I think i got a good deal at $500?
I will learn to change the oil and do that because of the shavings. Is there anything else i should check out too? Bolts might need tightening?
I'm thinking some of the problem could be the 3/4 tank of 7 year old gas, restriction, and battery being totally dead causing the entire hand console thing to not work right.
Oil injected, ?
If it is capped out at 28mph i would like to remove that, so i could hopefully sustain 35-40mph. It feels sturdy enough.
It is bright yellow and you'd have thought it a pony if you'd seen the look on The Female's face. It honestly seemed to preform no different with her on the back. She is smaller than me, and neither of us big, but still.
I have tools, extra cash not so much. I am confident with doing work myself.
That should be a good start, all over the place, but that's why we segregate threads right?

First off, Hello and welcome to our forum! Second, do a pdi and get rid of the ancient petrol in the tank. Btw, you've come to the right place for help in getting your scoot to run like a greyhound You just might find this to be of help. (Even though your scoot has been "uncrated" for six years it can still be of great help to you.) x1scooters.com/pdi.html

It sounds very much like the fuse is either blown or missing. have you checked?

This morning everything functioned. Blinkers, even the push button start! I saw the fusable link by the battery, looked fine, anyway it works now, silly me i didnt even look at the gas needle before coming in to work.
Caps out at 28mph for sure. Which is what i read. Think i can get her past 30?
I will have to check out that PDI article at lunch.

Need to get the plastics off and take a look at what i'm working with. I have never had an Oil Injected engine before, is there a dipstick? I want to drain the oil ASAP, will have 80km of 7 year old oil now. The manual says: Use reccomended oil. Whats reccomended haha? It is bright blue, akin to a weed whacker... I think that should be one of the first things i do. Are the other fluids critical for changing? Is there a good source for engine documentation on these chinese things? Like a manual for my specific one?

The oil on a 2 stroke oil injected bike changes every revolution. Normally there is a tank you put 2 Stroke oil in (make sure you buy some that is injector friendly the weed eater crap won't do) You will have gear oil in the final drive. There is no other oil to change it gets squirted into the cylinder through the carb (usually). You do want to drain the stuff in your gas tank. I would also clean and then adjust the carb and it will quit dying on you.

alright sweet, so no worries about break in metallic sediment? That makes things easy eh?
Clean and adjust carb is explained in the PDI, so that will get done.
Poking around it looks like i just need to switch around a wire or two to stop the 45kmph limit. That should be plenty enough... for a while.

You do want to change the final drive oil around 300 or so and might change it now. All the metal though will hopefully leave with your exhaust. The carb cleaning is not normally part of the pdi but if the bike has sat for 6 years with fuel in it its just a good idea

Uh oh, might not be as legal as i thought. Kalifornistan seems to have some stricter regulations than i anticipated. Looks like i need an M endorsement and registration to drive on street regardless of how small the engine is. Best i take back way home.

Isn't this Great? Your scoot is made in the People's Republic and you live there too!

Some extra fees will be worth it... 2strokes will fly when they are running good!

howdy, and welcome to the forum. i don't recall anyone saying it IS a two stroke , but if it is, you definitely need to be sure there is some two stroke oil in the reservoir.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

She is a two stroke. I had to true the wheel on my pedal bike, so i didn't get to work on her last night. I'd rather not risk a citation which costs more than my scooter!
I am going to put some hours on her tonight though, and will post back with my actions and progress!
