I know some parts rust over time, and all my spare parts are kept in my garage all year long. What are some good ways to store them? Spray them with WD40? Buy those little "do not eat" packets and put them and the parts into a container??
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Styrofoam containers!! My grandmother stored personal belongings i.e. metal, glass, plastic AND paper products in square 1/2" thick styrofoam boxes in the late 70's & remained unopened in basement storage until she passed away in '03. Had the task of sorting her entire estate & was shocked to discover everything in the containers hadn't aged at all.

How long are you going to store the parts? Any rust they see as long as the aren't buried in the dirt/mud will be superficial and should clean up in about a minute and would be unlikely to harm anything. Seems like a waste of time and effort unless you plan to store it all for a quarter of a century. Even then if they are still in the original box I doubt they would see much harm

I guess most of my concern is for the driveface and clutch pulleys where the belt rides. It doesn't take long for them to start getting rusty when laying around. It's not MAJOR rust but still. Even saw some rust on a camshaft around the bearing area-- again, not much.
Also, I saw some rust in the housing where both bearings of the crankshaft fit into the engine case.

When I was in industrial maintenance I either used Cosmoline: www.cosmolinedirect.com/Or Krylon 1321 Anti-Rust Wax spray coating of which I still have a few cans left. Then bag or wrap with brown waxed paper. Once a precision part gets surface corrosion which can happen pretty fast here in Florida then your part can become useless as many times cleaning it up afterwards can put it out of spec.
