Well that explains it. I'm surprised the forum doesn't have a way to host it's own pics... Anyway we'll be ok...

This explains it all: support.photobucket.com/entries/22511378-What-does-Bandwidth-Exceeded-mean-Exceed the bandwidth and your photos are gone for the rest of the month and then they will reappear. Got to pay to play as they say. Photobucket, TinyPic both bought by Facebook and the days of free unlimited upload are over. Picturpush just went to pay premium also. Imageshack has limited bandwidth also and doesn't do certain images like GIF's. Got a real education on all of this in the last 24 hours, Flickr has 1 terabyte of free upload. 20G of upload on Photobucket is $2.99 a month and they will only take paypal and credit card and it is a automatic payment, want it stopped you must cancel it yourself. I have a godaddy hosting server that I pay for and I'm looking to see what or if I can upload images to it. At this point photobucket and TinyPic can be fooled by just opening multiple accounts and holding the amount of images to a low number, but sooner or later they'll watch IP logins and figure out what people are doing and limit the IP to one account. It was good while it lasted can't really expect something for nothing. You would think some forum members would be more than will to help with a couple of bucks to pay the hosting service $2.99 isn't even really a fee any more. You can't really even buy lunch for that amount anymore...

JR, I would say if we're just exceeding 10G of uploads (per that link to Photobucket), and if Flickr will do all formats you need (including GIFs) and has 1T of free uploads, then go with Flickr. A T should last us a month...at least for now...hehhehheh....

These guys provided you with a free service and now they want to be paid. What's the issue? They never had to provide you with anything. They are just as free as you are and are under no obligation to give you anything. How do they owe you more than they have given you. Get your own servers and software and host it all yourself for less than $36 a year. Businesses are in business to make money not provide a free service to the community. I pay them nothing currently if I find their free option doesn't work out for me I will consider other options including paying them. How anyone can complain about this is beyond me. Do you go to McDonalds and demand french fries for free. No one owes any of you anything and last I checked, despite the erosion of our freedoms in this country, you don't have to pay facebook anything or participate in photo sharing or this forum, it is not mandated by law. You are free to not do any of it. You are also free to quit working for the slave drivers and become an entrepreneur and get your own slaves. You can never shop at WalMart or buy anything from any major corporation if you want. Yet many of the folks on this forum ride scooters made by a country that actually drives slaves, a country with a history (and presence) of massive human rights violations and abuses and they call people who have built billion dollar enterprises on their bright ideas and ingenuity slave drivers. Its ridiculous. Grow up, the world owes none of you anything be happy when you get anything for free...

This service is more of a individual type service and made for that mainly. JR

Its ridiculous. Grow up, the world owes none of you anything be happy when you get anything for free... I want to make my position clear. I have never said or will say that anyone or any company owes me anything or I want something for free. I have no problem with what Photobucket is doing their company their business. I was just stating the facts as they are and why that the smilies had disappeared. I've actually have used photobucket for years and had no problems. I also don't think the price is unreasonable. I do think that their "free" photo claims are misleading because if you just simply do a engine search for photo hosting or uploading companies they come up immediately and always come up as free. www.bing.com/search?q=photobucket&form=HPCNTX&pc=HPDTDFJS&mkt=en-us&pq=photobucket&sc=8-11&sp=-1&qs=n&sk=It doesn't take you long to learn that this is advertising bait. But again this is their company and their right, have no issue with that. Myself I've used these services for a long time and I see it like this, I donate my time here, don't ask for or try to do anything for revenues or pay and it only stands to reason that I would also if it's legally available use a image hosting service that is free also. I enjoy doing this, like to help folks and that's enough for me. $36? I throw that much away on soda pop each month, it's just the principal more than anything. I can with the click of a mouse button put all the smilies back to default and more than likely the sponsor banners can be done on photobucket within their 2G of bandwidth per month and not go over? Also when we convert to the new V5 software I can use a lot of smiley sites with direct url linking because the new software uses just that and very few items will need to be put on a server. The only risk of that is if that site goes down or disappears so will the link, if you host it yourself and pay your bill that will never happen. It'll be my luck that the smiley places will want to charge then. JR

My response was not to you Jr. but the gentleman I quoted. The response to you was an offer to help deffer any costs you might incur now. $2.99 donated right now would save you a lot of time...

Thanks Scootnwinn. I did not think your response was directed at me, I just wanted all to know what is happening and I wasn't even fussing about the charge. I was just saying it seems the free service like this that we have had so long is disappearing.
