Hey guys was out ridding the other day and noticed the scoot started vibrating really bad . Like buzzing with the pulse of the motor . Felt like the bike was hitting terminal mass. Got it home ran fine , a little more ticking than normal but fine . Hmm . So today I did a valve adjustment , belt inspection , and other tid bits . Took it for a ride and the tick is still there as well as the buzzing . Got it back home and took the exhaust off and noticed first that I am now missing a bolt that attaches the fender to the exhaust brace , also when taken off noticed there was no gasket ! No doughnut ring or no gasket at all. Were the pipe was connected to the block was some gouging on both surfaces and also some soot were gases had been escaping . Noticed that the plastic in one spot of the cooling shroud has melted we're the gases had been escaping as well . Stores were closed so I cut out a gasket out of some realy tough cardboard box a mower came in I had laying around , put it together and started it up ...vibration gone as well as the tick . Cut it off and inspected the bolt one last time an took it for a ride , runs very smooth and sounds like great . When I got it back I checked the bolt one more time and everything was ok . The exhaust and muffler were ticking ( cooling ) like they never had before ...like they are supposed to . How could they ship this without an exhaust gasket ?

My Xingyue came with no gasket. Found out after 5000 miles! Autozone had a sheet of Felpro exhaust gasket material, with metal in it. I have cut a couple gaskets already.
How do they ship with loads of issues - fuel filters in backwards. Loose and cross threaded bolts, miss wired vacuum and fuel lines. I could about see getting a new scooter in a box, needing 100% assembly.

I always double nut my exhaust. I don't know why they can ship scooters with only 2 nuts that aren't even locktited. It's probably the most common thing for scooters to lose their exhaust nuts!
If you have a 50cc, or sometimes a 150cc too, that's not performance tuned, you can actually use the vinyl sealing nuts. On the 250's the vinyl will just burn off, and the nuts will fall out when going wot. Too hot I guess. But so far it's working fine on my 150cc. Though I'm not riding it a lot, neither a lot on the highway.

Still worth the money though; I'd rather spend time (of which I have some) than spend money (which I don't have much of)... Having plenty of money, I guess I'd do the opposite. As Clint Eastwood once said: "... a man's gotta know his limitations..." Leo (somewhat limited) in Texas
