Ok, so I have never really paid a lot of attention as to what I had for a motor in my scooter. Since I have started this build, I'm ready to just throw it all away. Thought this was going to be a pretty simple bolt on build with some quality parts, HA! That is the last thing this has become!!! To start it off, long case engines run 12 and 13" wheels, short case engines run 10" wheels correct? WRONG!!! Apparently after ordering a set of long cases my stupid scooter decided to be a short case variation of some sort! Now this really confuses me because it has a 13" wheel on it, and I am running my room mate's stock long case belt! My cases are completely different from the new cases that I received from KS power. They apparently are just standard long cases though. I just compared them to my room mates long case 150. Now I pretty much have a complete motor section of a scooter sitting in my garage in pieces, but this transmission section has me stuck. The gearbox section of my scooter is pretty much a separate unit, where as the new cases just have a cover that mounts to the cases. Anybody run into this before, or know what to do?

That might be a qj motor QUINGJANG. Scrappydog scooters has parts for those. Apparently what they did was build 4 stroke motors on a 2 stroke case.vento, baja and a few others used it. What I don't get is a 13" wheel on a short case. Thats not possible . because on a short case, the measurement from the drive axle center to the case wont allow it

You should have counted the bolts on the CVT cover the SHORT CASE has 8 bolts holding the CVT the LONG CASE has 10 bolts holding the CVT. And of course you have to get the right case for the right TYPE OF MOTOR not all motors are the same even if they are both short case. It all depends when it was built older motors are quite different than your newer motors.
In the picture the one on the left is a short case and the one on the right is a long case. Also there are SEVERAL long case motors one is long case is even a little longer to accomadate the 16" wheel scoots. Alleyoop

Even if I ordered a short case set of cases it wouldn't work with what I have! The gear box area is completely different. Like I said, I'm running a long case belt so I thought that was enough confirmation it would be a long case. Either way I need to figure out what else I need to complete the transmission, I think I have everything else.

What size belt did the cvt have. In the picture which case is your old one? If it is not in the picture put a picture of what you had.
What motor is it, it should be stamped on the case. Alleyoop

Just because the belt is longer, doesn't make it a long case. The qj1pqmb139 takes an 836x17x30 belt thats actually longer than most long cases. and the long case has an 891. these are anomaly engines, and even the transmission is different. vento uses that motor

My case is the one on the left. The belt that I was running was an 842 20 30. The engine code is VE153QMI-3

I'll also add for the archives this motor also had a taller head than the standard 157 motor, along with longer engine studs and cam chain. The exhaust flange is also clocked so you would have to modify a normal scoot exhaust to make it fit. The oil pump sproket is held on with a c clip not a bolt. I'll note any other changes I may find.

I have an engine I picked some small parts off of. Maybe it has the parts you need. I would be willing to split the case to check measurements and take and send pics if your willing to buy the items you need if they are correct.
I scavanged the cam and some dowl pins from top end.

From what I can tell I need the rear cover that goes over the transmission gears, but I don't know if the gears are going to be the same or not (lengths and tooth count). I think my oil pump will work, looks like the ports line up. I'm not sure of the cvt stuff is going to swap over or not yet. If I had the crank in my hands I would start putting everything back together and see what is missing/ doesn't work but it never showed up with the cases I need to call Monday about it. Im assuming the brake stuff will all swap over but I'm not positive. As for actually mounting the motor back in the scooter hopefully my shock will still work, not sure yet as the mounting points are different distances.
