If I wereyou, I would strengthen whats left. It broke through 1/2 the ORIGINAL plastic. Why would you think that whats left is enough? Beleive it or not, that little peice faces tremendous forces. Both vertical, and lateral.Don't forget, your weight while riding, and all the road vibrations, even when you drop the seat to close it. It needs to be strong. I doesn't support your weight, but bouncing, and road forces make it tend to move around in it's support ;D(not to mention, you don't want some " pond scum opening up your seat to steal all your goodies with little or no effort).

The reason why ig wont break through is because .the inside piece that broke that he shows in the pic is completely different and much weaker then if he drills through to the other side. And uses the outside holes as the suport. It has nothing to do with the part that broke its irrelivent.! The reason it broke is because the plastic piece that broke was only 1/2 inch to 3/4 in thick compared to having the whole outside as support. Look at the side facing you in the pic the part withe the whole in it. The plastic goes all the way up to the seat. This is how th other side will be of a whole is drilled through. No need to fix the broken part. If he dosent want to.

I'll check that out. I will probably try to strengthen (fix) the plastic there also

I'll check that out. Check at Wal-Mart or Lowes... They typically both sell it. I will probably try to strengthen (fix) the plastic there also

I dont think they understand whay u are doing . Of course it wont hurt to fix the broken piece. Your body weght shouldnt have anuthing to do with the latch . The seat has supports it sits on so the weight is averted away from the latch.

I'm glad you don't think so, I hope it doesn't break. Fact is, It's already broken. Why fix it half way? What the factory supplied broke, how is half of it going to do a better job?I fully understand what it is, and what it does,I also have knowledge of the forces it is subject to. When you slam that seat down, Its like hitting it with a hammer, and when your riding down a bumpy road, it sees side to side motions and forces. It" best to renforce it IMO ;D An Ounce of Prevention is worth a POUND of cure

. The part that broke was the onlything holding it on last time this time he will use the outer part which im sure looks like the arm with the whole facing us in the pic. But he has to drill a hole through the other side. So half did not break the whole suport broke on that side. So now he will be using a stronger support due to the plastic being one solid piece with a whole drilled through it just like the otherside. We cant see the other side and from his responses im assuming he has to drill the hole through the otherside. So this means the bar only was suported by the part thay broke . Its not a half fix because he os using a new support.

He should've taken a pic of the other side. If it already has a hole in it, as the side shown does, The original pin went all the way through, just like a bolt will, Its gotta be damaged. all Im saying, is as long as you're working on it, Make it as solid as possible, so it don't break again. I certainly would. ;D me too good luck BTW,Dom, did you fix the lawnmower?
