I have even gotten in the habit of buying some really cheap tools for borrowers. If they break it then I am only out a $1 or so and those that pay for replacements usually throw in a little extra that makes up for those that do not pay for what they break.

What they said. Never let a friend drive your vehicle. My daughters ex-best friend borrowed her van a week after she got it. She totaled it and never paid my daughter a dime. My daughter even got stuck paying the tow from the accident plus the storage. They haven't spoken in 3 years because of it. They had been best friends since kindergarten. A friendship of 25 years down the tubes.

No Loss. With friends like that, who needs enemies? A true friend would have somehow tried to make good for it!
