Hey everyone . I have a question . I have an AGM Reto with a gy6 50cc motor. I just installed a no rev limit racking Cdi unit and it really helped out . Can get her up to 45 no problem but then she won't go any faster ....well didnt try realy cause it felt as it was at its top. My question is without out a tach I have no idea what rpm it is turning and although on a Honda gy6 they are known to get 9000-1200 rpms befor redline I would like to know about we're I am at . I don't want to blow it and although the Cdi is a no rev limit is there a redline limiter in it by default so I don't through a rod or something ? Have big plans for her including a bbk , exaust , and carb later this summer .

The rpms r def somthing you want to pay attention to. I would go nuts wothout a tach. KNowing what rpms you are at will very much help you in deciding what you need to do to gain top end or more takoff. Also it will allow you to know when you engine is at its limits and not over do it. The normal redline for a 150 is 8000 rpms

Yeah, even for a 50cc, at 8k RPM you'd be going just under 50MPH. Most 50cc's have their torque curve between 35 and 45MPH (6000-7500RPM); after which the engine will lose torque, though with a good backwind usually still can gain some speed.
The 150 cc's usually have their peak torque delivered (7k RPM), at around 60MPH;
Usually, but not always the final gear ratio's are about the following: cc's // RATIO // RPM // MPH 50 // 175:1 // 40MPH // 7000RPM 150// 125:1 // 40MPH // 5000RPM 250// 100:1 // 40MPH // 4000 RPM

50cc redline is 8000 as well. i have tuned my rpms to the sweetspot with sliders. Now i max out at 8000 at the highest and the power band stays at the power making range of 7500 while accelerating up to my max speed of around 37. I did have it tuned as high as 8500 and liked the performance but the tradeoff of the power vs the longevity of the motor isnt worth it.

Thanks a bunch for the input . I can feel it get its peak around 36/38 mph (60 Klmh ) and will go past that on the straights but feels like I'm a pushing past any usable power so I keep it just under or about 60 Klmh which is great for now . It's stock accept for the new Cdi unit I put on it . Next is muffler and maybe Kevlar belt .

You usually only can get upto 48MPH, if you put tall gears, light rollers or sliders, open exhaust (sports), and unrestricted CDI;
That means a delicate system, with possibly slow acceleration.
