I have rechecked the gap at TDC both were where set the other method. Just to verify. I reset both from .002 to .003...if they tick at .002, .003, .004, .005 ore only going to tick louder. I dont understand if they tick appropriately at .002 what good increasing the gap will accomplish since there is lash and a tight condition does not exist. If you can hear the tapping when engine is warm at .002 what good does increasing the gap to a higher number like 004 or 005 do ?

From what I understand, It allows for expansion. If you are setting them at.002 cold, There will be little to no valve clearance when they heat up. Maybe the noise is the compression trying to force the valve closed. Did you try setting them cold at .004?

If they have .002 hot you are fine. The engine runs fine right? Don't worry about a bit of ticking its normal.

Yes a little ticking is fine, when they are to LOOSE they will make a CLATTERING SOUND.
Put up a VIDEO of it running then we can tell you if they are to loose. Alleyoop

Rockers? rear cam bearing on the way out? ???or both If you are happy with the valve lash, I would check that out.Maybe the whole cap casting is worn. Any exessive play in the cam?

Internet audio is dodgy and deceptive. Don't worry you set it right just ride it.

[replyingto=redroush00]redroush00[/replyingto]If so,,the head assembly is pretty cheap,,might be a good time to think about a BBK Until then I would just ride it like the man said... Here is what mine sounds like...
