Hello everyone, Today I was feeling a bit bored and thought I would make my own fiberglass scoop instead of buying one. During the build I thought I would take some progress pics to share with everyone.

I have a background in prop making so I applied it to the process of making my scoop.

First I started with a block of floral foam and marked the vent hole on it:


Then I got the rough shape with a box cutter and the general shape I was going for by sculpting the foam with my fingers and did a test fit:






Once I was happy with the shape I fiber glassed right on the foam(This foam is very absorbent and doesn't melt from the resin either):


Once the fiber glass was cured I used a plastic spoon and scrapped out all the foam from the inside(Note, Due to the foam being absorbent, it takes a little longer to cure the resin that has soaked into it):




Once everything was fully cured I cut/sanded the piece to rough shape and did another test fit:





Then I applied bondo(Body filler) to the scoop:





Once the bondo cured I sanded it down and applied some primer:



And when I was finished I slapped on a few coats of black and it was ready to install!



Now, I could have made this look a LOT better I'm sure but it was just a trial and I may do away with it if I ever decide to buy a chrome looking one.

Anyways, I'm fairly happy with it and just thought I would share for those of you who may be on a budget like me and would still like one.
