I don't agree with any arguement that a certain scoot is better than another or that one scooterist is better than another in any way! I just agreed that certain chinese scoots look better in MY OPINION. The retro style is just as cool but I prefer my style scooter than retro these days

No that's what I got from the responses to your thread. You should read your post again I have no issues but you saying something to effect of I can't believe these guys never even picked up a wrench to even put on some tasteless looking led's (not that you would necessarily need a wrench for that) is mildly insulting the real scooter comment and Chinese eye candy took it to the next level

I do think , IN MY OPINION , that wrenching on your own scooter is a plus.... That said, I do very little wrenchin on my very own scooter but I do the oil changes... I would rather not wrench a lot right now being I live in my mother's house and have no space to wrench.. even if I did I would probably rather not wrench cause I'm not as mechanically inclined and lack proper tools to get the job done nicely...

This thread is full of some weirdness. So spandi I do my own wrenching and ride Italian am I real scooterist? And psycho you realize with very few exceptions all Chinese scooters are Japanese scooters shamelessly copied and butchered. Ridiculous, great you went on a ride with other bikes how do you think those guys would feel to know that now you are speaking bad of them because they chose not to wrench. Just because the other guys at least some of them chose not to wrench their own rides doesn't make you better, just different. Don't bash others for what they ride or how they chose to ride... I'm sure you didn't tell them that to there're face or infer they weren't real scooterists did you? I hope one gets to read this thread and you have a chance to explain yourself You've hit the nail on the head. (and it's the perfect metaphor too) The very fact you CAN wrench makes you (in my book) a REAL scooterist. Not the BRAND you ride. "Got tools?"

I will probably get a Honda motor for my scooter one day asuming it fits, but I just looked on Honda's website and their scooter offerings still lack the cutting edge style ive seen from the Chinese. If the Chinese scoots are a result of copying that Helix, thats like saying Hawking is only a great thinker because he may have read one of Einsteins books.

You really are clueless aren't you redroush. The Chinese with the exception of CFMoto's recent offering do not design anything they are all copies of Japanese machines
even the one you ride
I can deal with that Spandi but I might define it as hardcore or nor. We are all scooterists

Vespa, Italian, was the first scooter so technically everyone else copied someone after that.

I don't believe that some of you are considering some to be more "scooterish" than others based on how much they work on the scooter. If you ride you are a scooterist!

Hi Acutally the 1908 Autofauteuil 490 cc 1 cyl sv was the first motorscooter Every thing later is merely a copy based on them www.yesterdays.nl/autofauteuil-1908-p-1106.htmlTake care and ride safely my friend Yours Hank

Well if you really want to zero it down to Vespas, they (Piaggio) were inspired seeing how easy the GI's got around the bomb damaged roads on their Cushman scoots. (plus they had an idle aircraft plant to make them in.)

[replyingto=indymoped]indymoped[/replyingto]I love Chinese scoots,, I've had Kawasaki to Honda,,but the tinkering to make my cheap Chinese scoot reliable is the funnest part,,I would never buy a qulity scoot it would take all the fun out of the hobby,,i like not knowing if im gonna make it around the block...lol..its the challenge mixed with a gamble that is exiting.Honda,Vespa,ect.... all very reliable,,but boring to me.No offense
