Well, the Linhai was funi suppose. I really did enjoy it while I had it. It was definitely just a stepping stone. The Linhai touched 45mph on a loooonnnng downhill WOT run and vibrated worse than anything I've been on. The Piaggio barely breaks a sweat running 55mph-60mph for miles on end. I hit 66mph (GPS) on a very slight downhill. Which leads me to this : the speedo is only about 2% inaccurate! I've had it for roughly 12 hours and I've already put 100 miles on her... and that was after visiting with some family. I am in love again. Introducing my Piaggio Fly 150 :

The main reason I got the first scoot was to ride to work to save some money in fuel. There was no way I'd trust it to make a 30 mile round trip. And even if I did I still wouldn't have been able to because I have to go through a semi long stretch of 45mph-50mph roads. There would have been no way the Linhai would be able to do that. I don't doubt for a second that the Piaggio could do it... and exceed my expectations. We'll know one way or the other Monday

Welcome to the Piggy-pen, jos'!! !!! >'Kat Funny you should post. I was actually looking high and low for a BV200. I just couldn't quite find a good enough deal in my area. I found this Fly 150 and got a killer deal on it. I almost feel bad for not treating the previous owner to a nice steak dinner.

I see by your past posting it was a Linhai 150, and I was wondering, does the Vespa come with EFI? and how many valves? I have noticed that even when the cc's were the same as a Chinese scoot a Vespa or Honda tends to be much faster.

Okay spandi, just to clarify, it's a Piaggio, not a Vespa. Pi owns and makes Vespas, not the other way around. Although lots of folks think Vespa is the parent company. As for EFI, I believe the Fly is carburated. And air-cooled.
josh, gloat a little. How killer a deal did you get? And I know how you feel. I got my good silver piccolo for $200. Talked to the Gemeinhardt rep a couple years later, and he told me they can't even make them for that cheap. They sell new in a store for something like $1000! So then I felt a bit guilty for unknowingly ripping off the lady who sold it. But she didn't know, and I didn't know.
As for the BV, they supposedly can hit over 70 mph. I haven't the nerve to confirm that or not. And I know what you mean about not finding one easily--I think I've seen less than a dozen on our CL since buying mine. Probably less than half-dozen, even.
Now gloat some, then go ride some more! And watch out--that sort of fun is infectious!!!

(of course people have gotten speed increases in Chinese scoots by upgrading the Carb, Clutch, etc.)
