Suffering a little QMB139 long case confusion. Bought a 2012 Peace Sports B09 from a kid for near nothing. Already has a BBK and pipe. Problem is he had the same Mechanic up gear it. But they went way to high so take offs are slow...takes 3/4 mile or so to hit 40 and then 5k rpm is about max you can go. Puts it out of the power band quite a bit for most of the ride. He does not know what gears they put in....just that they were the highest they could find. Sooo...here is my question...please help. I need to know what your stock longcase gears were..15/54 with 13/32...etc. Reason is....I want to know what the normal stock ones are so I can use those numbers to calculate a decent gear ratio...vice whatever is in there now. What is in there now would be great if everywhere you drove was downhill with a good wind.. Thanks in advance for your help, Glenn

I was under the impression that you just had two choices in gear sets for them.

I do not know about the long case engine, but all 3 of my short cases came with 15/51 gears. Doug, I have 4 different gear sets for a 139qmb they are: 16/50, 16/42, 18/46, 17/41.

Roy Thanks. ok they came with 15/31...is that the primaries? What were the secondaries? That is what I am looking for...what the primaries and secondaries are...or were. Just secondaries or just primaries does not give me much to go on...I can't figure a good ratio to drop down to unless I know what stock gears are for primary and secondary.. @ doug. Ok so if you only get 2 choices in stock gears what are they??? You forgot numbers. Also something that would help greatly....what is the typical final ratio... 10:1 11:1 etc. My 2T Hornet and all other Hornets came with a 13.5:1 ratio. Sooo....see what I am trying to figure out? Just telling me primaries or secondaries is only part of the equation...it is like somebody asking me how to make a cake...and I tell them.. "Add 2 cups of flour..2 eggs..1/4 cup Vegetable Oil..." Then walking off leaving them to guess at the rest of the recipe... ;D

You are welcome. I had it wrote down in my note book, it just took me a while to find it.
Stock primary ratio is: 52/16 = 3.25 Stock secondary ratio is: 51/15 = 3.4 Stock final ratio is: 3.25 x 3.4 = 11.05:1
