I just recently got a new Genuine Stella 4 stroke. I've only ridden it about 20 miles.
Today I noticed there is some oil on the engine case. Is this a sign that I have an oil leak?
help is much appreciated--thank you very much

It looks like the shop did a poor job prepping the bike. That is cosmoline it is used to protect the bike from sea air. Take it back and let them finish you paid 4 grand for that sucker it should be clean.

The oil looks pretty clean. Did you just change the oil . Iwould clean it off take it for a short ride to see if the oil returns . If so i would say there is a leak. And if you just changed it you could have added to much and possibly blowing some oil out the hose coming from the head. Not familiar with this engine setup what cc is it?

Your prob right about it being the cosmo. Just not sure if he did any maintenance himself before taking it out. I know i would def put my own fluids and plugs in. Also not sure if he posted any other threads about if he bought it online or from a shop. Not to much info on this thread.

I think he assumes that you know Stellas can't be purchased online new. It is like buying a Honda or any other major brand. They are really LML's from India who was at one point licensed to produce P series bikes for Vespa. They are nearly still Vespas only engine is different and they are slightly longer to accommodate the 4 stroke engine they were exact replicas until the EPA made them switch from 2 stroke engines...

My Stella was actually still in the crate when I came across it. Because I was sitting there waiting on it...I think they just rushed through it. If its a hassle to get back to the dealer...this what worked for me...Bug and Tar Remover, toothbrush, soap & water and about 10 minutes. But, like has been said... You paid to have it prepped, so you dealer should happily take care of it for you.
