So ever since i switched to a 83cc bbk i've had this condition when i am barely maintaining speed, sometimes when i give it gas from a dead stop, and sometimes when im full throttle. it cuts out like someone is hitting the kill switch then comes back on like normal, when it does this it sounds almost like a hollow sound coming out of the intake...I think that is the sound of a lean misfire.
i had an 38 idle and a 92 main it it and the plug was as nice whiteish with a hint of brown but no matter what i did to the idle mixture screw it wouldnt fix the problem. I have since switched to the 40 idle and 92 main but then i have no idle speed change when i adjust the mixture screw and when i rev it it blows out blue smoke.
then i changed the idle to a 33 out of frustration and still no idle speed adjustment and blue smoke. then i changed it back to a 38 idle...so back to what it was originally and still no idle speed change and blue smoke when i give it gas. Im really peeved by this and am about to throw in the towel and say screw it. something is obviously wrong but i have no idea what it is.
when it was a 38 idle and 92 main i was only getting about 50mpg, this isnt right, right? even with the 83cc kit and stock head and cam?
also it clockwise on the mixture screw leaner and counterclockwise richer?

Yes clockwise is leaner and counter clockwise is richer(ON A CVK CARB) on a Slider type Carb Throttle cable going into the center of the CARB it is the OPPOSITE and it is a AIR RATIO MIXTURE, clockwiser richer cuts off the air and counter clockwise leaner lets more air in.
But I would not be so concerned with that I would be concerned with the BURNING OF THE OIL BLUE SMOKE coming out. Either the rings were not put in right or you have leaking valve stems. Which means your loosing compression.
Normally if its the valves they will only leak when cold once they heat up they will not leak, so If it happens when you rev it up it usually points to your rings.
Rings will usually seat in about the first 20miles riding varying the speeds BUT not all the way at WOT about 3/4 of the max but vary the speeds up and down. That will usually seat them nice and even all around the bore to seal. Alleyoop

ok, see thats what i was afraid of, but im not sure how the rings could just go bad? BECAUSE...when i first started the engine after the new bbk It did smoke, like it should when the rings are seating and it did for the first 20minutes or so and i drove it about a mile or so and it stopped smoking, i have almost 100 miles on the bbk and it hasnt smoked since, just that stupid cutting out crap. so why would it start smoking all of a sudden? maybe i got it too rich and it washed out the rings? idk? im not an idiot when it comes to engines or fuel management on fuel injection but i might be slightly when it comes to carbs,
my carb has a round plunger in the carb throat that slides up and down pulling the needle up? is this the cvk?

Well I am just trying to tell you what the problem is, you blew the rings and did not let them seat properly. I would guess you rode the heck out of it trying to see what it would do with the BBK. Happens to many they just do not break them in right and wind up having a short life on the motor.
Carb rich or lean will not cause smoking, your carb is A SLIDER Type not a CV Carb. Your carb should have an AIR SCREW to the right near the AIR FILTER(Clockwise RICHENS it Counter Clockwise LEANS it) and a screw in the middle which is your IDLE SPEED screw(clockwise raises the idle counter clockwise lowers the idle). I know it is hard to take bud, but take it apart and see how the rings cylinder is if it not scored you can get new rings in there and break it in right. Remember no wide open throttle for at least the first 50 miles or so and vary the speeds up and down but not wide open. Run it up a little for minutes then down to a slower speed for mintues and so and they will seat good. Then you can try some wide open stuff and see how it does most of the scoots really don't break in till about 500-1000 miles but yours is pretty broken in it is just the jug and new cyl and rings that have to get nice and worn all around and seal good. I mean you can run it the way it is with some smoke and not such good performance and get new parts when it really gets bad and it is leaving a cloud behind you. And make sure you are checking your oil level otherwise even worse will happen to the motor it will seize and blow the heck up. Alleyoop

You can try putting in heavier oil try 20w50 and see if that helps the blowby. Alleyoop
