No I do not need to know how to change a spark plug, I figured that out a long time ago. There is a forum that I seem to be a big topic on, seems some think I have no qualification for being a moderator on a scooter forum. I got a message about the thread so I went and looked at it. I returned the message with this and thought perhaps it would be useful to let all you know as well. The concern is that I do not know anything about scooters, that I do not seem to know anything about motors. I do own and ride a 150cc Longbo scooter (bought used so I did not have a problem with registration, had to fix to get it running, yes it was a simple fix just needed a CDI and a new coil.
I did the PDI on my 50cc scooter.
I began riding a Honda when I was 15, that was 45 years ago.
Over the years I have had several Honda 90cc motorcycles, a 160 scrambler, a CB 350, a CB 450 that was a left out in the field with the spark plugs out for years bike that I had to pull the motor out of and replace the cylinders and pistons, just to get it to run.
I have taken apart several Honda /110 motors to fix because when I bought them they did not run. Yes they ran great when I put them back together.
Also, have rebuilt Chevy 350 V8's, several, four cylinder motors from Japanese trucks (Datsun and Izusu), a 6.2 liter GM Diesel. rebuilt the 2.8 liter V6 on my kids Camero, replaced the clutch on I don't know how many vehicles, my first car was a 1960 Falcon and I put a head gasket in it, replaced water pumps, generators, starters.
Oh and my lawn tractor, I have had the Kohler motor apart to fix it.
I know my way around motors.
I can fix it if it rolls down the road.
Do I post a lot of advise on the forum, no, I let those that are better at telling others what to do deal with it.
Now I don't get on the forum and issue complaints about what other people say on other forums, I do not complain about other forums on any forum. I have a life.
So if you would like to cut and paste this and post it for them to read, you have my permission.
Thanks for being you.BTW this is not a complaint about what the other forum has posted. I just know that people here are also members there and want to ease your mind that I am able to speak from the standpoint of a person that is able to do things. Perhaps this will do a little to make the person over there feel a little better as well.

Yes, yes, all well and good. But besides all of that superfluous "mechanical stuff", what are your literary qualifications?

Have the correct socket to fit it and may need an extension on a ratchet . Only use the ratchet to gentley break it free and unscrew by hand with the socket . Wipe it clean and around the hole before reinserting it . I like to use anti-seize compound as I have had some that got stuck and stripped theads in the heads when removed . Gentley insert and screw in with fingers until it gets in there then a mild snug to torque it in as it does not require much effort and easy to over tighten and damage the soft Chinese metals

Yes, yes, all well and good. But besides all of that superfluous "mechanical stuff", what are your literary qualifications? Now that's funny Spandi in two ways. One the way you was kidding here and two reminds me of things I was told by someone at the same place of how I would never figure out how to put a forum together on any system and wasn't even smart enough to figure out how to put something in the news header. When I did I did strike out on my own needless to say I had a lot to learn on how to put a forum together but I learned a long time ago that if you don't know how to do something simply ask. By asking you will learn. Just like Doug mentioned about if it rolls he'll figure out how to fix it with no problems, it can be the same with me and all this computer stuff, if it'll turn on I'll figure out how to do it. I can remember the day that just looking at a computer made me think "no way" and now when I see something new or someone else doing it I'm all over it. Right now I'm working out the things and bugs out of Windows 8 I recently got and having no issues at all. There are also a lot more things to know about running a forum than just knowing how to fix everything that comes along. I've been a supervisor of some sort all the years I worked and there have been times I may have not known what to do in every instance but I was smart enough to put the right people in the right place that did and the job got done and that's all that mattered. Funny thing too is the one who made the statement that one time? It wasn't that long ago that they did ask just a question as this, "how do you change a spark plug?" And the one who told him how was the one who managed to build a scooter forum to tell him should he ever need to know again. JR

The sad thing is that I took several upper division English/literary classes when I was getting my bachelors degree.

Doug what was your major ? I never had an employer or client ask me what a dangling participle is LOL.
Changing the plug is simple to do and I have been amazed on how many strip the threads ETC

Got an A.A. in music, a B.A. in liberal studies and another degree in physician assistant.
Don't be doing any dangling around here.

Well You figured out the first step is to ask on this forum. Some one will be along directly to answer your question. Roy
