If you give your scoot gas and it doesn't rev up, but it does rev up quickly and the back tire spins when it's on the stand, what is that? Right now, if I"m riding, on take-off I have to go like 2mph for 50-100 feet, then it starts picking up rpm and speed quickly. Could this be caused by a missing variator sliding guide (the plastic, U or V shaped pieces that allow the variator plate to slide in and out) or are we looking at belt or transmission or something else?

Sounds like it is bogging really, you open the throttle and it bogs then it catchs up. When you twist the throttle what sound does the motor make sort of a WAAAAA sound. Alleyoop

If it happens on a cold engine it might be the enricher. It has a specific fuel flow until the engine is hot enough.
If it happens all the time, it might be something in the cvt... I know on a cold engine my ATM50 tends to give this bogged down feeling, because the CVT rollers don't retract to the lower gears. It usually goes away after 1 or 2 start-stops.

Alleyoop, it doesn't make a noise except for the sound of something running at very low rpm; the firing slows down so low that it's almost like a subdued, slow machine gun. I had this problem before but wrecked and it went away. Now it's back. But I responds fine on the center stand with the rear wheel off of the ground so it is resistance related. Last time, it did it for about one week straight for about 2 startups per day which is all I was running it (in other words, it did it every time). This time has been about four consecutive days. I would think the enricher would cut fuel weather on or off the rear stand, right?

I just took the cover off and the belt is on its last leg. It may last another month. I don't know for sure if that's what's causing this but could it? It has lost some of its width.

Wutz, Is the belt down in the Variator or HIGH on the Variator and DOWN in the Clutch pulley? If the Variator is not opening all the way and staying a little closed it would cause that situation LIKE a car starting in 4 gear. It would be very slow at take off until the rpms came up enough to match the ratio that the belt was sitting at. Alleyoop

It would be very slow at take off until the rpms came up enough to match the ratio that the belt was sitting at. Alleyoop Ok THAT is exactly what it is doing; just like a car starting in a high gear. However, I didn't look at the belt with the cover off while revving. I'll bet that one of those 3 plastic guides missing on my variator is causing it to stick closed--would that be a logical cause? And w/o a replacement guide at this time, would a little grease do the trick?
