I am in need of engine oil and the previous owner used synthetic 2t maxima oil. The only kind I could find in my area is Bel Ray Mineral 2t oil. Is it okay if i add the mineral 2t oil to an empty tank or do I need to bleed all the old oil out of the lines. The bel ray is blue while the maxima is dark yellow. Could I just mix it in the tank as well.

I'm just learning about 2T oil myself but I would just mix/add it in. I do know that if it runs too low/dry it could damage the pump or at the very least get air into it and you would have to bleed it before it would operate correctly.

For a 4 stroke I wouldn't hesitate but since 2T is burning it, it might be a different story. I would say you'll be safe if you wait till the current oil gets pretty low (but not completely out!) and fill it up with the mineral oil. That's just my opinion, I'm sure others will have different insight.
