My new Lintex HT-150QT18 (111 mi. on the odometer) had been running fine until my trip home to pick up the kids from school yesterday. It dies as I was decelerating, throttle only. I had to abandon it and pick up my vehicle only to retrieve it some five hours later. It started back up and I rode it Home with no issues. I have been running it with the fuel cap loose as suggested. Question? Can a slightly loose valve clearance, with the adjustment bolts fixed, cause a rapid slight tapping sound from the motor and cause this cut out? Attachments:

Normally they will die if the EXHAUST VALVE is to tight on deceleration when the RPMS are LOW a tight EXHAUST valve will not hold idle after the motor gets hot.
Any sounds coming from the muffler like popping or backfiring when you let off the throttle?
A little ticky ticky is fine a clattering of the valves means they are to loose. Adjust them both to .004 inchs. Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop. My valves were a bit loose. My manual calls for .12mm gap, which I readjusted tightly to and took it for a short spin. The light rapid tapping is now gone. I'll take it for another spind today.

Took the Lintex to work this morning at the bike shop with my 9 year old daughter riding along. The scoot started right up this morning, after holding the starter for 2-3 seconds as opposed to the 3-5 seconds, with a bit of hesitation, it usually takes. I had to tighten down the idle adjustment about a 1/2 to 3/4 turn after the enricher cut of after about 30 seconds. The Lintex purrs nicely. Great ride to the shop on side streets due to the fact I am still breaking it in, about 4.5 mile commute. The odometer currently reads 117.3 mi.
