Hey guys, back story, honda ruckus gy6 swapped, not getting any help what so ever from the ruckus forums, just want my scoot to run, anyway
Everything has power where its supposed to be
CDI power 80-100ACv Trigger 1.5-.9ACv Coil output 50ACv
Now heres where the problem is, when the coil is connected to the output from the cdi the output becomes .2
when only the output is connected to the coil and not the ground wire, i get 50ACv at the output wire again and i also get that same reading off of the ground terminal of the coil
I have a brand new spark plug, i tried the coil on a 50cc engine and it ran fine, im so lost as to what could be causing this
the cdi is DEFINITELY dumping its charge through the coil wire, but it seems as if when the coil is hooked up correctly (output to + and ground to -) all of that charge just...goes bye bye
Please help me out!

Put a jumper wire from the neg battery to the engine then to the green post on the coil. And try again.

I'll give those a try, the trigger is maybe a hair off from touching the flywheel magnet

The battery is grounded to the frame and the motor has to ALSO be grounded to the frame otherwise if the ground wire from the motor to the frame is bad you will not get a spark when the plug is in the motor. Also check the killswitch if you have to take the killswitch off on the CDI. The killswitch is the TOP wire on the 2 plug on the CDI. Alleyoop

The kill switch is functioning correctly i have verified because while cranking when the switch is off, no power goes to the coil, when on, the 50ACV goes to the coil wire
Ill try making sure all ground points are tied in

So i tied the grounds all up to engine at 2 points, the frame and the negative battery terminal, still no dice This is what im getting when the coil wire is not plugged into the coil from the cdi and when it is plugged in i get .1v

Unplug your coil and check it's resistance. The primary winding. ( across the spade terminals) should be 0.1 to 1.0 ohm. The secondary winding ( green - spade terminal to sparkplug lead) with cap should be 7K to 9K ohms. without cap should be 3K to 4K ohms. if the coil ohms out ok, I would try another CDI. ( then replace the coil also if that didn't fix it. )
If the Hi-voltage capacitor in the CDI is blown and shorted, if would cause the voltage measurements you're getting.
The standard resistance of the stator winding for the CDI power (black/red to green lead) is 500 to 600 ohms.
The standard resistance if the timing pickup coil ( blue/yellow to green lead) is 80 to 160 ohms.
Your wire colors might be different.

You were right about the hi voltage capacitor i think earlier today i was thinking, "It doesnt make sense, but what the , ill try another new cdi (the one i have is "new")" BAM fired right up, AMAZING, how it is that you can get such a high voltage output on the coil and yet.. have it not fire? i was completely baffled for days.. I think your statement about the Capacitor should be put into troubleshooting spark FAQ's because that was listed no where, i was getting all the correct measurements and still no spark Thanks alot!
