I am in need of a new camera. I have researched all the latest cameras and am thinking about getting the Sony action cam. Anybody own one of these?

My friend loves her Sony dSLR. And she just bought a something-300, a point'n'shoot with 50x optical zoom.
Personally I love my Panasonic point'n'shoot. It's old enough that it's only 2mp. But it's given me zero problems in all these years, and I'm a shooter. Bonus is it focuses in night with little light, dark enough I see nothing at all in the viewfinder. Amazing little camera. It's the Lumix DMC-FZ1. I'd recommend looking for whatever has replaced it. Darn good camera.
Best site I've found for researching digi-cams is dpreview.com. They not only review cameras and lenses, they also have a search by features and a side-by-side comparison. Very useful and informative site.

If you are wanting a still shot camera and have the money a Canon Rebel SLR is awesome as it can use 35mm lenses and attachments . For video shots on a scooter the HD Go Pro is pretty good .

I have checked out the go pro and it appears to be a decent camera. I have compared several other action cameras as well. The camera I want to replace is a cannon PowerShot digital elph. It is only 2 mega pixels, But takes excellent photo's. The only thing wrong with it is the battery is shot and won't hold a charge. Since I will replace it I might as well get one I can use on my rides also. Roy
