Just had the top end rebuilt a couple weeks ago. Was running perfect until Wednesday. Started hearing a tapping, and figured a valve had loosened. A little further, the exhaust got loud. Stopped and found one nut loose and other gone. Tightened the one and took off again, just trying to get home. Cut out a little bit later. Was running but very bad. Pushed it last couple miles. Reset valves and fixed exhaust and turned it over. Was very weak, and started smoking. The green wire from the stator had the insulation melted and connector starting to melt. Stator going bad? Or another issue?
