Shredded Belt Aftermath: Scratched Fan Plate, Variator Boss "Bearing" Wobble, Main Variator Dimple in Belt Side I have a Shredded Belt Aftermath condition that I need to troubleshoot, and I need experienced minds' input: 1. Belt got shredded 2. Removed shredded belt and any residue from any spacing visible (used small screwdriver to clear them up) 3. Replaced the belt with old stock, and old stock roller weights for testing. 4. Started motor. There is a vibration on the variator, which is not present if the belt and variator is removed altogether. This vibration happens while the backwheel is stationary, and increases as the clutch starts engaging the rim. Observations 1. I believe the crankshaft is fine. When motor is not running, with variator removed, crankshaft doesn't feel like it wobbles. 2. The Variator Fan blades are not broken, but have deep gouges 2-3mm wide about degrees to the fins. Will this cause an inbalance while running up to 8000rpm? Do I need to replace the fan plate? 3. Variator Boss "Bearing" seem to have dry lubrication (~2yr old, 4000mi scoot). If I re-lubricate this with hi-temp grease, will it be enough, or am I asking for trouble? Will this need to be replaced, or should I run the relubricated Boss for signs of wobbling? 4. On the main Variator, on the surface that touches the belt (about 2/3 up), there is a dimple roughly 2x3mm oval shaped. My guess is that the shredded belt caused this as well. Is this a reason to replace the main variator as well? Thanks.

Well I would remove the clutch and inspect the pads and bell . I would inspect the rollers for wear spots . If you seek a safe answer , I would replace the variator clutch and belt get a fresh start . Imperfections on the pulley faces can damage belts . As far as a balance problem I would recheck the clutch . If things are warn replace them , that is a sign of trouble .
50cc or 150cc ?

It's a 150cc GY6-B 16 inch ... BMS Kerrigan, aka Phoenix Parts are slightly more expensive ... not by much, though ...
I did not inspect the Clutch System yet. I will have the 700ft-lbs impact wrench next time I work on it.
Thanks.

Has anyone experienced unbalance/vibration due to the slight "defacing" of the Fan Plate? About one circle worth of gouges into it.
Has anyone experienced unbalance/vibration due to the Variator Boss ? That cylinder that acts like a bearing between the variat and the crankshaft?
