These trikes have a weight disadvantage. They weigh in at almost 300 pounds. Even with a 72cc it will top out at about 38-42mph on level road but will loses about 10-15mph up hill. Do you know what size engine is in it now?(Mine came with a 72cc engine.) Does it drop down to say 5-6k rpm up hill?
Lighter rollers, (I have 6 gram sliders in mine, it came with 8 gram rollers) and a stronger spring will help on the hills. You can gear it lower, ( don't know what gears are in mine) but will lose top speed. A free flow air filter and exhaust will help, but you will need a bigger main jet in the carburetor. But ultimately the only way to get more uphill speed out of one of these fiddy trikes is a bigger engine.

To not spend a lot of money get lighter rollers or Sliders, like ROY said. What that will do is require more RPMS to get to the same speeds he is currently pulling. But that will keep the POWER up going up a hill and not slow it down so much due to the weight. Alleyoop
