Hey Domindart,
I've done art all my life, and your work looks mighty good to me! As Barbara Walters might say: "I'm impwessed"... Back in the day, before free interns and digital graphics, I even made enough to keep me in a big house, driving Caddies and riding Harleys... Nowadays, I live in a trailer, drive a bucket of rust and ride my Chinese scoot... My, how the mighty have fallen... LOL! You've got some real talent there! Anyone who can do charcoal and pastel on paper without "making mud" is OK in my book! It's a VERY difficult medium to work with and keep fresh. Looks like you've got it down pat.
I think we "artistes" should do some fantasy scooter renderings for the enjoyment and inspiration of other site members. Wild rides like Wangchicken's "Project Sunkist" make me want to get out the old drawing board!
While I'm old enough to sorta rebel at most anything "digital" I've found that if you can draw and paint, you can scan your "manual" art into a graphics program and do all sorts of magic that was impossible in the old days. In fact, that's how I did the "It IS the RIDE" banner above... I drew the scooter in black ink, then scanned it into a program where I did all the color. The background is a photo which I radically altered for shape and color... With the graphics programs, you can add type and other things for a finished product. The computer has REALLY opened a new world for art, AND, if you can actually do hand-done art, you're ahead of the game when you mix it with the computer.
Anyway, a hearty "well-done" for your art! I hope you make a big career out of it! Now, how 'bout some great scooter graphics? I love how you do your stylized people. I think you could easily translate your style into some very saleable auto or biker art illustrations for print magazines, and private sale.
Please keep it up! (and show us MORE!)

Many thanks for the compliments one and all!
I dreamed up the "Phat Panda" one night after way too much coffee, and way too little sleep... I was thinking about the old Clay Smith Cams "Mr. Horsepower" cigar-chomping woodpecker, while looking at Disney's "Kung Fu Panda" and thought "Hey, Chinese scoots need a 'mascot' as fun, and ridiculous as we had on our old cars in the sixties!" Old guys think like that... And you just gotta love the fact that NOBODY is going to use it on their Vespa... HeHeHe!
Like our "vacationing" Terrilee might say about "Phat Panda"... "I AM bad, AND drawn this way..."
Ride it like you stole it!

PS: I assign the rights to any art I do on the sites (Phat Panda, Reb on his Cushman Eagle, which is Doug's original concept, Rebel Daisy, Scooter, the ScootDawg, etc.) to Doug. If you want to use them to make your own decals, etc. you need to get Doug's permission.

I really like the charcoal art. It would be cool if one of the artists here could come up with some sort of decal that could be drawn up and made into a decal for the forum??? or have I missed it already? He Leo, I really looked forward to Terrilee's comments and her sense of humor...I hope her "vacation" is cut short and she comes back to those who appreciate her. Ok I got to get busy today and go clean out a house for a moving sale in a couple of weeks. It is amazing how much "stuff" you can accumulate in a few years.
