Hi all.
Just picked up a 2008 Lance Milan from a customer. Traded him $300 credit towards his bill. Thing look brand-new in his driveway. Only 775 miles on the odometer. Seems to run great. I get home and start discovering a bunch of little things.
The Mirror was barely hanging on with some poorly rigged J-B Weld job. It fell off immediately when I touched it. The body panels didn't seem to line up where the little tabs insert into each other. Hardly noticeable until I noticed it... Then I realized that that left side have a nice big crack all the way down it, conveniently hidden in a crease. You can't really see it. I'll probably put it back together just for the heck of it. Oh the plastic pan under the scooter was hanging by a thread. I rode it around a couple times and it seemed real smooth and nice and accelerates good and starts right up. But I finally got around to checking the oil like a rookie. I should know better I work on all kinds of motors. Looks like there's no oil in the case. Also I noticed that the headlights don't seem to do much of anything they are very dim. I push the high beam button and nothing happens. One of the little headlights is out. The fuel gauge appears to be stuck at a quarter tank. Looks like the odometer and speedometer works. All the directional lights work. Valve stems look like they're ready to crack off.
Okay I'll work with most of that but I'm curious about the proper fluids. It probably doesn't make a whole heck of a bunch of difference on this little thing, but my manual is calling for 15 W 40 engine oil. See a bunch of Internet talk about 10w 30 or 10w 40. I do think the manual has some major flaws in it. So who knows what's supposed to be in there. It's also calling for 85w90 gear oil. And 10w40 for brake fluid! Oh im in a hot summer climate, mild winter.
One other question... how fast should this thing go? I mean I'm 6ft 240 and I suspect that might slow it down a bit oh, but I'm only pushing 45 miles per hour floored on a straightaway. Does that sound right? I mean the speedometer goes all the way up to 70 I would expect I could get at least 55
Thx yall

Parts resource. L5Y VIN is Znen. 15W-40 works fine in GY6 engines. Similar to the tire valve stems, replace the drive belt. Top speed should be 50-55 MPH . . clean the carb jets, and verify slide assembly is rising properly.
